What is the meaning of an engagement ceremony? It sounds so special.

it's a little complicated than this, but here's the jist..

basically back in india b/c they had/still have mostly arranged marriages the engagement ceremony was the way in which the extended family would meet the groom/bride-to-be.

nowadays, they continue the tradition. There's a signing of papers by the dad's - basically the agreement says that the families have agreed to this wedding which is to take place on x day ect.

personally - i think it's a waste of money :) but hey -- it was fun and I was sooo happy with how everything turned out - so I can't complain too much!

Your pics are wonderful. The 2 of you look amazingly happy as well as your families.
