i went to check out fox hollow and met with sharon a party coordinator who strongly suggested not to use pedestals. she told us that they were getting too many complaints on them. interestingly enough the banquet mgr at crest hollow would not recommend brian but wouldn't say why not. i was told i could bring in my own florist. i was also told to check out 4-5 reputable florists that have been around for a while and therefore have a track record.
:)

Thanks for your help.

Okay wonderful now I just want to cry. When we met with Sharon at the Fox Hollow she highly recommended Pedestals. I booked them about a month and a half ago. My hair stylist also just used them for her wedding and loved them. I am really nervous now.

Hey Karen,

How's it going hun?? I know we are in the straight-away now :)

Rachel just called me here at Fox Hollow and I just wanted to set the record straight. We proudly recommend Pedestals, Spitz and Peck, and Simply Elegant. We haven't received complaints on Pedestals or they wouldn't be one of our recommended vendors. We do a lot of research before we recommned anyone as our reputation is on the line when we say we believe a vendor would benefit our brides. I am not sure what the misunderstanding was with the other bride that stated I mentioned a lot of complaints. This isn't true, as the last thing I want is for Fox Hollow clients to call me, unhappy with a service that I recommended. If there are any Fox Hollow brides that have any questions, please feel free to call me. Chateau Briand brides, please call Tricia, and Westbury Manor brides, please call Joan.

Happy wedding planning to all.

I know your weddings coming soon too. I am trying not to think about the dress issue. I just hope that maybe I will get a cool woman who works on the plane who will sympathise with me and give me a break.

Cassarino & Flower referral

Well, since my wedding is a week from Saturday & I have booked Cassarino, I am curious...

....to know who she contracted for and who they sent instead (did the contracted photographer get sick? have a family emergency? maybe it wasn't the studios fault? there is a clause in their standard contract that says they can send someone else if the contracted person can not make the appt.)

....can you elaborate on how he was 'independent'?

Pedestals/Flowers by Brian

Spitz & Pecs has the prettiest, freshest flowers. I am not using them because they were a little too pricey for me but the work that I have seen from them (at various weddings) is always beautiful.

Absolutely. Please don't take it the wrong way. I fully appreciate the existence of this site and the effort it takes to maintain it. Like you, I also do this for a living. I've seen plenty of sites that start out small and are suddenly overwhelmed. I can only theorize based on the symptoms, without knowing your exact infrastructure and config, but it seems unlikely that it would be on the client end since we have multiple people having the same problem with different browsers and connection methods. The fact that I was getting error messages accessing threads and was seeing the message "index rebuilt" at the top of the page when it was reloaded would lead me to believe the problem was in your discussion software database.

I was merely trying to keep people from believing that either they had a problem with their computers, or somebody was deleting postings. I'm sorry if you perceived it as casting any kind of dispursion on the site or its operators.

Vicki I am also in Howard Beach too.

Whether or not you pay before, if they do a bad job you can try and deal with it after. Unless it is an obviuos breech of contract, Im not sure what type of leverage you would have when complaining if you were expecting a refund. I also think the catering hall's incentive to do a good job is their reputation..there will be plenty of prospective future customers in the house.

Our best bet is probably to relax. Weve spent alot of time and energy picking the right vendors, Im sure most of our instincts will pay off!

HI RACHEL, MAYBE I'LL MEET YOU ONE DAY AT VINCENTS.....LOVE TO TALK AND SHARE MY PLANS WITH YOU.

If you want to compare it to a regular work day....we typically are given a full lunch hour. That's for an 8 hour work day. They're working close to 12 hours - and if I didn't feed them, they'd leave to go get food. I'd rather have them there just in case dinner ISN"T a full hour...so they don't miss anything.

Besides, it is illegal for my employer to ask that I work 12 hours without a coffee break and a a full lunch hour.

KAREN I'M IN QUEENS.....THE PHOTOGRAPHER WAS GEORGE WHO WAS SUPPOSSED TO SHOOT MY FRIENDS WEDDING.....WHEN HE DIDN'T SHOW UP SHE WAS REAL UPSET. SHE FELT CASSERINO SHOULD HAVE CALLED HER AND ASKED HER OPINION, OR JUST PREPARED HER FOR IT. AFTER MONTHS AND MONTHS OF PLANNING THEY DIDN'T SEEM TO CARE AT ALL . AND THEN THIS GUY JOE CARSSERINO CAME OUT WITH THE "CRACK" WELL GO AHEAD AND TELL FOX HOLLW, YOU'RE NOT SCARING ME THEY NEED ME!" I'M THE BIGGEST!!!!SHE GOT SO UPSET THAT HER FATHER HAD TO TAKE THE PHONE TO HAVE HER MOTHER CALM HER DOWN. WELL THEY MIGHT BE THE BIGGEST AND FOX HOLLOW MAY BE NOTHING WITHOUT THEM BUT I'M SURE THEY WOULD LOVE TO EXPLORE THAT POSSIBILITY! HOW DARE THEY! SO YOU CAN SEE MY NERVOUSNESS, AND NOW OF COURSE EVERYONE SEEMS TO BE TALKING ABOUT VENDORS AND COMMISSIONS TO HALLS ...SO WHAT GOOD IS IT !!!!!GO WITH YOUR GUT, BUT CARRY A BIG FOREARM AS YOU SAID...GO GIRL!

Cassarino

Very surprising. I've spoken with Joe - actually chatted w/him via email - and have never gotten that impression.

However, I appreciate the info and will keep it in mind. Thanks.

KAREN GOOD LUCK FOR YA WEDDIN' DAY....MAYBE I'LL MEET YA ONE DAY....BUT BY THEN YOU'LL BE THE MRS AND I'LL STILL BE THE MS. I'M SURE CASERENO WILLBE FINE JUST WANTED TO TELL YA ABOUT THE TEARS AND TURMOILS ON THIS SIDE OF THE STREET...I GUESS SOMETIMES THESE GUYS ATTITUDES JUST COME OUT....GOTTA TELL TONY SOPPRANO...HA HA/....HAVE FUN TALK SOON

At the Milleridge, I do not have to pay the remaining 5% of the contract until that day (just in case there are no-shows, etc.), but the gratuity is fixed & is in the contract. I found that to be true at most places I visited.

I do believe your proposal is very reasonable and I'm curious to know which other hall was "enlightened" enough to see it your way.

That would be really great!!!!!

Like I said before - I think everyone is entitled to their opinion & they should feel free to express it. I just think there is a way to express a dissenting opinion without attacking a person and being offensive.

Pedestals/Brian..a jerk!

gina can you tell me more about this guy.....you said he was a jerk someone else said he shorted them on roses in the centerpieces. is he still in business? i went to jericho terr. a couple weeks ago as a guest anf pedistels flower shop did the centerpieces.not brian the brides mother told the maitre'd to remove them from the tables they were dead. any ideas.

I have been coming here since I was told the Web site began to exist. Enough said...and I have been through the most miserable time with the planning of my own wedding. I went through the months of researching catering halls. Picked one that would handle a small affair. Thought I was happy with them, booked a photographer, who I still adore, although I wont get to use him. Got a DJ and a florist. The whole nine yards.

I had to cancel my plans and was very upset. I came here to tell everyone and you all were great. Until I had real problems and actually came to the boards to tell others the names of the establishments that were un professional. Now I am far from a dumby, and have been through a wedding and a marrage in my past, so I have done all this already. When my caterer tryed to keep 3x the legal amount that they were entitled to keep I was basically told that I was the one who was wrong! I know the laws, I read the contracts, yet I was Bashed! Same thing with the florist, who I never got more then an estimate from, nobody signed anything, yet now she wants money from me when nothing was ever in writing other then exactly just that....an estimate!

Flowers - A Good Place

I decided to post about a positive experience that I had with a florist so that some of you that may still be looking can check them out!! Ken and Eva's Flower cottage in Brentwood!! Ken and Frank handled my wedding they were the best!! They made a sample of my center piece about 2 weeks before the wedding. They also gave me a free center piece for my vendors table. all of the bouquets and boutonnieres were amazing, as well as the corsages. I ordered flowers for my house for the week of the wedding, and instead of sending them though FTD or something they delivered them personally from Brentwood to Hempstead. My reception was in Floral Park, and there was no extra charge added for having to travel that far. They were very helpful with the different types of flowers and very professional I highly recommend them. I would higher them again in a minute!! I think that this board is a great place and that both negative and positive information should be shared!! so I just wanted to share so of the good stuff with you guys today!!

best of luck Jamelle

I actually used the Crystalbrook wedding center in EastMeadow, and they are the florist!

I made appointments on my lunch and at night. Most vendors are very flexible with their hours to accomodate yours. I searched the internet and this website for yipees or bewares on certain vendors.
