Hi everyone! We are currently trying to decide on a photographer for our wedding in October. I was wondering if it is necessary to have 2 photographers or if just one will be okay? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

It depends where your ceremony and reception is located? How far from each other? SPeak to the photographer and they'll let you know.

Some quotes I got came w/ 2 shooters. Also, you want two shooters if you want some shots of the groom getting ready (if you're going to be in two locations). It wasn't something I considered until I started looking at albums and videographers websites.

We wanted 2 shooters without a doubt. We want a mix of traditional and photojournalistic candid shots and 2 photographers allows us to do that. Plus my church is EXTREMELY strict when it comes to where photographers can and cannot be so having two will help get all the shots I want. We also wanted photos of myself and FH getting ready that morning. Our photographer doesn't even offer the option of just one shooter. We have 2 shooters and a lighting assistant. And one videographer.

I was told to try and choose the amount of photographers based on the amount of hours and coverage you desire and the amount of guests you're having. But hey, to capture more shots... I say go for two to be safe!

We're doing one photographer and one assistant because my ceremony and reception are at the same venue, my FH and I are staying at the same hotel the night before the wedding and we're only having 125-130 guests for our wedding. The photographer will schedule a time for my FH and his groomsmen to get ready, then schedule mine afterwards. That way, the good stuff won't be missed.

Plus I'm having a family member who does photography take more candid and natural shots through out the wedding so I can have more variety and style. However, my family member is not a professional.

But trust your gut!
