Photography Pricing Question

hi, i've only been checking this group for about a week, so forgive me if this is a completely inappropriate and intrusive question. its just that it seems the price of wedding related things on long island are completely different from the rest of the country!!! i would like to know how much you are paying your photographer and what services he/she is providing (how much time they will spend, engagement photos, how many proofs, albums included, etc etc). i realize this may be a private subject (money is always hard to talk about), but i found a photographer i love and i want to see how competetive her prices are. if this is inappropriate, i apologize again and please, someone, tell me to shut up!! :) take care everyone and happy planning!!!!

Photography Pricing Question

Welocome to the tri-state area!! Pricing is absurd. My roommate in college is from Massachusettes, where there is a cash bar and cocktail weenies in a fire hall! My photographer is in Nassau County and he ranges from $3300-$6000 includes engagement sitting, 2 parents book and your album, unlimited proofs, you keep the proofs, but they can go from $1500-$oblivion! It is what you like and as I looked at it the only tangible item I will get from the 5 hour affair. I think the pictures, video and food are most imortant!! Hope that helps!

Photography Pricing Question

Hi Leighann:

I shopped around somewhat, but I ended up purchasing a package for $3,200.00. I don't know if this was good or not, but I loved my photographers work when I was there. I'm receiving 50 Prints in my album 8 x 10, 20 prints in each parent album (2 albums), 2 11 x 14, 75 Thank yous, 4 8x10, and all proofs. I can mix and match, delete and relace. I am also getting 3-2HR fully edited videos included with recap, special effects, etc. I don't know how to break down the video vs. photo, but I thought this package was great. Good Luck to you.

Leighann,

Photography Pricing Question

Thanks Jessica and Glory for your responses. You are right though, Glory, about people having different needs and it may be comparing apples to oranges.. which is why I asked what people were getting for the money they are spending. I went into my search thinking I wanted limited coverage and came out realizing I'd like to have a record of the whole day!!!

You are also right about the importance of meeting with more than one photographer. I've met with 2 and spoken to three on the phone. The other photographer I met with was intimidating and kind of flacky. Her prices were slightly less than the person I really like, but our personalities did not mesh.

Photography Pricing Question

Hi. My photographer was about $3400 in that I got engagement shoot, all thankyous and proofs and negatives. 2 parents albums, our album with 60 larger size pictures, pictures of each of the bridesmaids with me, 8x10's and a larger size. This included the photographer and lighting assistant. I dont have the contract in front of me so I am sure i am missing something. He is mixing up the shots- formal, candids, photojournalistic and he will take all the photos in color. If there are any shots I want in black and white he is converting free of charge. I also have my video through him as well. That I think was $2200 and that included 3 - hour and 1/2 videos, 3 - 10 minute overview videos, the master, the videos included honeymoon pictures, other pictures, music, animation etc. Shop around and make sure you meet each photographer who will actually shoot your wedding not just the office salesman. Your instinct is usually the best bet to go by. My fiance and I hit it off with my photographer so it was right. Good Luck!!

Who is it, Kate?

Sure Lexi - He's on this site, but I don't know where. On the Internet, Yahoo, etc., type in Rick & Co. He is so sweet. There is another bride on this site who hired him as well. His packages are on his site, prices and all. Actually, I think the package I picked is on his site for 3090 now as a Millenium special. Good Luck. He is wonderful, responds to emails, phone calls, etc. I felt so comfortable with him and he is so relaxed and seems like fun. I'm sorry to the other bride who hired him; I can't remember your name.. I know you're happy with Rick too. Good Luck Lexi. Let me know if you cannot find his number or site.

All of our vendors were prompt, professional, & very responsive to any and all requests we made throughout the day - The Milleridge Carriage House, Cassarino Studios, Designer Limos, Greenpoint Florist, Fine Time Entertainment.

And the quartet was also a big hit!

Photography Pricing Question

I'm glad I helped and remember that you have to be with the photographer the WHOLE day!! So if you like her go with her! It is the only thing you wil have in 50 years so if she's good and you like her go with her!! And good luck!

When I started sharing my ideas on this board ten months ago, it was a real pleasure. During that time there were many disputes and disagreements that transpired. They would heat up for a day, and then dye down. For some reason the controversy continues on this site continuously now. It seems that people are more interested in keeping it going then sharing thoughts an ideas about wedding planning. That is why I was here not for all of the drama, since that is what the board has turned into the time has come for me to depart. I am sorry that I will not get to hear all of the details of some of the wedding planning that I have been following, and I thank all of you for you input, ideas and support throughout the planning of my own. If anyone is interested in contacting me please feel free to do so, via email, since I will not be checking back on the board. My wedding was wonderful and I have nothing but positive experiences to share with you all. If anyone is interested in any one the vendors that I used please feel free to also contact me via email.. They were all wonderful and I would use each and everyone of them again
