Me too! That's what we're doing. Not too much of a fan of Friday nights. It's rush rush and I never feel much like partying, I'm just tired from the day. JMO.

ETA: I just realized that you want a summer wedding. I'd definitely take the Sunday night then. Traffic going east on a Friday night is awful during the summer. Not only would a bunch of your guests miss the ceremony but they'd probably miss the cocktail hour and possibly part of the reception!

i would say friday night because i think in general fridays are easier to take off than mondays for those who have to travel a bit...

we were kicking around the same ideas and opted for a sunday brunch if we couldn't find a place to accommodate us on a saturday night. we had a lot of OOTers to consider, so we ultimately ruled out friday and sunday nights.

I chose Friday night- Saturday is ideal. which is why it's expensive.
But IMO anyone who REALLY wants to be @ Chruch will be there, and the rest will come to the reception and you will see them all there. -
Personally, a Sunday night wedding kills me - you have to be @ work the next day so peopel are ruluctant to REALLY party, and tend to leave early

I see you picked July 4th weekend - i voted Sunday, just b/c the Friday traffic will be AWFUL. People will be late, etc.. If that weekend isn't a long one (i didn't check), what better way to avoid the usual Sunday nite traffic home than to stay at your wedding and party? JMO.. Good Luck!

I say Friday. Most of your guests will have off on Saturday. Almost no one has off on Monday. Unless it is a Sunday day wedding than that is different. Neither one is a bad option though.

I will say that the next day is Yom Kippur (monday and tuesday) so my friends, all teachers and co-workers will be off.......

my fmil and parents are against the friday night wedding.... i'm soooooo confused!

I know, it's so hard! In a perfect world, we would all have Sat. night weddings (or better yet, we wouldn't have to work, and could choose any day of the week...and weddings would be free! )

My best advice is to weigh out which day is best for You and those closest to you. It is impossible to make everyone happy, no matter how hard you try. And, regardless of what day you pick - even if it was a Tuesday at 5 in the morning - your loved ones will be there for you no matter what!

IMO, Sunday night weddings are tough. I just went to one last month and it was SO hard to get up for work the next day and I didn't even drink. If I have to go to a Sunday wedding, I'd prefer the day time. I'm having a Friday night wedding so everyone can stay out late. Besides, I'm having an after party at the hotel bar where my bridal suite is and alot of our guests are reserving rooms there so they don't have to drive. It's going to be an all nighter...CAN'T WAIT!!!

The day wedding is not a bad idea. I am doing a Sunday afternoon. It's early but people who are traveling far may opt to stay overnight in a hotel. I picked Friday though because even if I had to get ready after work to go to a wedding, I know I can likely sleep in late the next day (except the one Saturday I work).

I would prefer Sunday. I noticed that at a lot of Friday weddings people dont go to Church (i dont know if you are having a church ceremony or one at a hall). I would probably not be able to go to a friday wedding. I picked sunday cause we stay up late anyway.

I would pick a sunday - I HATE having to go to weddings on friday and pray that FH can get off of work on time... to rush home in traffic... to rush him getting dressed... and rush there. Its so rushed that im usually not in as great of a mood as I would like to be. Plus we NEVER make it to the ceremony. you dont have to have it in the day time but you can start it a little early so it dosent end late (?) like no later then 11 or 12 I think is fine.
Also I am having my wedding on a sunday night before a holiday and still paying sunday price.

I prefer Friday night weddings but often I do skip the church or ceremony (unless it is someone very close to me and the travelling distance is not bad). But then I know I can fully enjoy myself at the reception - knowing I don't have to work the next day. I have been to a few Sunday night weddings and I have left most early because of work the next day esp. if the travellling distance is far. For me - I usually don't feel like partying on a Sunday night. Not to say I didn't have fun on all Sunday night weddings but typically I have more fun on a Friday night affair.

I did this post awhile back too. I went with Sunday night. I am having a chuch ceremony and it seemed nice to have it on a sunday for people who normally would go to church.....and everyone is looking for an excuse to take a day off in the summer.....So everyone can make it a long weekend and take Monday off!!! Don't stress pick which you feel comfortable with and the people who want to come will adjust their schedules because it is important to them to be there!!!!

I would vote for an afternoon one, either Sat. or Sun. Friday nights mean people might have to taken 1/2 day off work to get ready and get to the ceremony on time. Sunday nights I couldn't really relax knowing I would have to be at work early the next AM....

I picked friday since I am a friday night bride. It works out for me since i am getting married in the summer so a lot of people take off early (or the whole day) on Fridays. But you're in October, so that doesn't apply. But it may be easier for people to take off early on a friday than to take the whole day Monday off. JMO.
