I wanted to get married on a Sat. too, but our guest list is out of control so we settled for a Friday. Our ceremony will be at 4 or 5 (we still haven't decided) and our reception will start at 8:00. I am going to 3 Fri. weddings this year (not including mine) and I really like them. You have the whole weekend to recover!

I'm a Sunday night bride so you can guess my vote. People will come if they want to come, regardless of when you have it. If my best friend got married on a Tuesday at 7am I'd be there.

Just to let you know, we started our cocktail hour at 5:30pm, so people won't get home that that late. Also you can probably expect more people at your ceremony since they have the time

What about a Sunday early afternoon wedding?

I'm having mine on Columbus Day weekend, that Sunday, so that might work for you!

I chose Friday night. It's nice to have something fun to look forward to Friday night, rather than spend Sunday night worrying about getting home in time to get some decent rest. As far as having to leave work early in order to get there in time, all the better! I happy to leave work a little early on a Friday - especially during the summer!

I voted for Friday night because well first, thats what I am doing and I am biased. But the more I think about it, I like it better for me and FH because hopefully we can rest and pack on Saturday and leave for the honeymoon on Sunday.

I picked Friday b/c we had our wedding on a Friday night.... The reason we picked Friday is b/c my Mom is a musician and has played at many weddings, she told me that the Sunday weddings never really 'get off the ground'

I picked Friday night but I am biased because I'm getting amrried on a Friday night.
My parents are against it but eventually they had to give in on something.
It is the Friday after Thanksgiving and lookign at my guest list I know almost everyone has that day off.
I was worries about the traffic situation too since most of my guests are coming from Queens but I'm hoping since a lot of people have the day off that traffic will not be as bad as usual.
Our ceremony is at 7PM. We're having a Catholic ceremony but we're doing it at the reception hall so that makes it easier too.

I prefer Friday weddings. It's easier for me to take off 1/2 a day Friday, then a Monday. the only reason we are having a Sunday is because it is a holiday and everyone is off on Monday.

To me they are both the same....Friday night weddings people may complain if they have to take off of work or leave work early...and Sunday Night guest might complain about going to work the next day...

Either day someone will complain - so go with what you like best!!!

Sunday's people will be well rested and might not feel rushed to get to the wedding.

That's the reasoning I used when deciding between the two....I choose the Sunday

thanks for your opinions.... I think I am going with Sat.... it's just easier for everyone to get to the wedding (friends and family) from NYC w/o hitting the rush hour,....

I am having a Friday night wedding. I actually like Friday nights because then people have the rest of there weekend. Plus whoever you are really close too will take the day off from work and the others will just go to the hall rather than the church too. I am starting my cocktail hour at 7:30 so it gives people alittle more time. You can even do 8:00 if you want.

I prefer Sunday. If something comes up at work, I HAVE TO WORK, and that would suck if I couldn't go at the last minute. Or if the train is late...

I voted for Friday night.

IMO, your guests will be there no matter what day you have it. I am having a Thursday night wedding (before a long weekend) and I could care less if people have a problem with it. If I am important enough they will come.

Friday!!! B/c odds are, most people will take off from work that day, and have a 3 day weekend. Plus, usually people want to unwind after a long work week and look forward to firday....jmo

I would definitely prefer Friday... lots of people are able to leave a little early on Fridays easier than going in later on Monday. Plus, I agree that it's nice to sleep in the next day.
