Please help - Reception Sites

I would really appreciate some feedback on the following sites - Carlton on the Park/Harrison House/ Fox Hollow Country Club. I have only seen Fox Hollow so far and I did really like it. I don't know anybody that had there weddings at any of these places and I really need to make a decision soon. Any info would be appreciated.

She really is a pleasure to deal with. If there is something special that you want, ask. Worst thing she can do is say no.....

Good luck with your search!! Deirdre

From what I have heard from some of my customers, the Harrison House is beautiful! And the weddings they do are well done. I have never heard of this place until customers started using them and I have heard nothing but positives!

GOOD LUCK!

I went to a wedding last year at the Harrison House and it was absolutely beautiful... I would not have changed a thing!!

I have to agree with everyone else. I have 2 words to say "WEDDING MILL". There are so many weddings going on there at one time that they do not focus 110% of their attention to YOU. I know that they have seperate kitchens for all of their rooms, but the fact that there are many more weddings going on....YOU should be their focus. I am not saying that places where there are multiple weddings are bad, when you have 7 at one time, that's a lot!

Just my two cents!

Just a word of advise for any wedding, really.

I went to a wedding at Fox Hollow (I'm pretty sure), and although the food and service was fine, it was the actual room that drove me bonkers! They had a temporary wall (to divide rooms...the accordian-looking kind), and this wedding had a band, and the wedding on the other side had a DJ. So, throughout the night when the band played, we could hear the not-so muffled sound of the DJ next door along with the band. It was pretty annoying.

THE CARLTUN WAS BEAUTIFUL BUT THE PRICE IS OUTRAGEOUS. WHEN I LOOKED THEY WANT A GUARUNTEE FOR 175 PEOPLE AND YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR 1 VALET FOR EVERY 35 GUESTS WITH JUST THE MINIMUM THE PRICE WAS ABOUT 50,000(NO KIDDING)FOX HOLLOW IS NICE BUT ALSO LOOK ACROSS THE STREET AT WOODBURY CC IT'S VERY NICE AND MORE REASONABLE. I AM PERSONALY HAVING MINE AT GEORGIO'S IN BAITING HOLLOW THEY ARE NICE TO DEAL WITH AND AACCOMODATING

Apparently there is a resort on Negril, Jamaica called Swept Away. Our travel agent has recommended it. Does anyone know anything about this particular resort? The web page looks really nice.....

Hi Margaret. Just remember one thing when looking and booking. A lot of places now do where there is only one wedding at a time. I have a friend who attended a wedding at Fox Hollow. The bride from one wedding was so drunk, she came into the wedding my friend was at. Be careful when the rooms and times are close for 2 wedding receptions. I chose a place out east in Wading River, which I know is hard for Nassau Brides, but they have 2 seperate buildings, probably 200 - 300 feet away from eachother. I have all the outside grounds and the cottage to myself. They do not let anyone on the grounds during a wedding. It's East Wind Caterers if you decide to check out Suffolk County sites. www.eastwindcaterers.com

I hope you have a wonderful time!

Thanks, Lisa

I went to a wedding at Fox Hollow this summer. The food was pretty good and the grounds were nice. The cocktail room was too small for the number of people though, and also there are two different rooms where your reception might be. The nicer room you need like two hundred people for, so when we were looking they said we would have to get the smaller room which was in the basement and I did not like. I also was not a big fan of the long tables.

We decided on Woddbury cc down the road. The grounds are more secluded and nicer and I was really impressed with the menu, price and both reception rooms. There are two weddings at a time but they are really concerned about keeping them totally separate. The people you deal with there have been very nice also. They have also recently renovated the entire place so everything is new.

Hi. Carltun and Harrison house are extremely expensive I think. Harrison quoted me a price of $170 pp for a late October early November wedding. I have gone to weddings at Fox Hollow are they are nicely done but I hate long oval tables. I dont know what your price range is but The Riviera in Massapequa is pretty (very gothic). I am having my reception at the Timber Point CC in Great River. It is absolutely beautiful on the water. Mid way for Suffolk and Nassau guest. Resonable priced ($80pp for a Saturday night in Oct) and centerpieces cake etc were included. Michael and Joan were very helpful. It is worth taking a look at. Good luck and let me know what happens. I think Timber point is having a bridal showcase on Feb 16th. You should go. Their website is www.lessings.com and then just go to Timber Point.

That being said, its important to know how to handle them with care and respect. At my cousin's wedding, I tried to give her the envelope and she was too busy dancing and REFUSED TO TAKE IT!!! She actually told me that she didn't want it! (which i thought was a little rude. i don't give out $150 every day...) As a result, many people threw their envelopes on her table, many had cash - and she never received them. : (

I like the idea of handing them over to a trusted family member - and I have just the right person in mind! Thanks, everyone for all your input!
