Re: poll garter toss/bo-k

ABSOLUTELY 100% we ARE doing it. I LOVE this part of every wedding. One of my friends didn't do it and we all felt 'jipped' The garter toss isn't raunchy, it's just fun and part of tradition... I don't this is cheesy at all... it's seriously one of my favorite parts of the wedding... it allows the guests to get involved with yoru day.

Re: poll garter toss/bo-k

fiance really wanted to do the bouqet toss/ garter he felt it was tradtion. Our compromise is that we invite all the men to catch the garter and all the women to catch the bouquet. Who ever catched the garter will dance w/ me and whoever catched the bouquet will dance with fiance. This way it takes the spotlight off of the singles and gets us dncing with someone else. Hopefully it works out well

No on both. Reasons why....not many people attending our wedding are single. Any wedding I've ever been to the single people had to be 'called' out onto the floor. No one went willingly. Plus both FH & I do not like the way it tends to 'break up' the party.

Use Either, I am always the one that hides during this time so I dont have to go up.

Re: poll garter toss/bo-k

My FH and I decided to do the Anniversary Dance instead. Most of our friends are married, and I don't like the idea of him going up my dress!!!

Re: poll garter toss/bo-k

We're not planning on doing either. I've only been to one wedding where they did a bok toss and have never seen anyone do the garter. I don't want to stop the party for it, plus, like some other girls said, I don't want FH getting all up in my dress in front of our entire family! We might do an anniversary dance instead, but not sure.

Funny note, at the wedding where they did the bok toss, I caught it. A month later I got engaged and I will be the next person to get married!

Re: poll garter toss/bo-k

We're doing the BoK toss, makes sense since I'm getting a free throw away one anyway. But FH decided he doesn't want to do the garter toss, I'm fine either way, it's up to him if he wants to change his mind.

Re: poll garter toss/bo-k

yea i was at one wedding where the dj made the groom crawl and growl on the floor while taking off the garter. After my husband saw that, he didn't want to do it. I guess if you have that kind of personality it's ok. LOL Make sure you talk to the DJ if you don't!! If you have a free throw away you get to give it to the longest married couple

Re: poll garter toss/bo-k

Most likely, I'll throw my bouquet - FH doesn't really like the idea of throwing the garter. Doesn't matter to me either way.

Re: poll garter toss/bo-k

Yes and No.

I am doing the bo-k toss for two reasons. 1) to avoid the anniversary dance. I don;t want to do it because I know the couple that's been married the longest and they are always making everything about them. It's our day and for once, they will not be in the spotlight.
2) For the last ten years, I have gotten dragged onto the dance floor to try and catch the bo-k and I hated it everytime. Now it's time for my revenge!

No to the gater because it makes a lot of people uncomfortable and it's always the same thing. Everyone involved is embarassed and it takes up too much on our partying time.
