Pre-Cana

What should I expect from Pre-Cana??? We're starting in tw weeks, and I don't know what to expect... Everyone just complains claiming it's a big waste of time and/or boring.

Pre-Cana

Glory,

My fiance and I really enjoyed our pre-cana experience. Even though we know each other really well and have talked about all of the important issues, I think it was really useful to have to articulate our feelings again. We also were able to spot a few things that we needed to work on. Whether your experience is good or bad has alot to do with your attitude going in and also the other couples in your group and the group leaders.

I hope you have an enjoyable experience. Best of luck with your wedding plans, Deirdre

enjoyable

not boring at all. WE attended an interfaith pre-cana session- actually 2, fri night and 1/2 day Sat. Very eye opening. WE were all given index cards- the ladies wrote on the side w/ lines and the guys on the blank side. WE had to finish the sentence.."i can't talk to my fiance about...blank...because...blank". WE were very surprised to hear some of them read out loud. "can;t talk to me fiance about my ex, cuz he gets jealous and mad" can't talk about $$ becuase I spend it all and they like to save.

Very good workshop. Like Deirdre, rob & I thougth we were pretty buttoned up- this confirmed it to us. The priest did run throught what there ceremony would be like. That is when I found out that we have 2 readings to be performed!

GO!! and go with an open mind. This is a chance to think/talk/discuss topics that you may not touch upon in everyday conversation.

Pre-Cana

I like Pre-cana. We had a great group (3 other couples and us), 2 teaching couples. We became very close. Make the best of it. We gained 10 new friends. They didn't go over the readings with us. We did a reading at every class in the opening of the meeting. I picked all my readings from my pre-cana book, which you will receive the first night. There are some beautiful ones. In the back of the book, there is a program for a wedding and the order of the mass or ceremony. That's how I put mine together. The teachers are supposed to help you, I heard. When you get married, you have to hand in the last page of the precana book (which is all of your selections) to the priest who will be marrying you. Good Luck. It was fun! I got a lot out of it.
