The Costumes And Jewelry
Costume designer Gary Jones, who had designed the costumes for the San Franciscobased “The Princess Diaries,” was a key collaborator with director Garry Marshall in bringing the pageantry of Genovia to life.
“The overall vision for this movie, which Garry, Albert Brenner and I tried to accomplish, was to create a kind of ‘magic kingdom,’” says Jones. “One of the joys of working with Garry is that he loves the costumes and how they help to tell the story, and to work with Julie Andrews and Anne Hathaway again was a dream.”
“Gary Jones is a brilliant designer— the costumes are incredible! We’re in Genovia now, so everyone had to dress regally and beautifully,” says Garry Marshall. “We had over 500 background performers in some scenes, along with our principal actors, and all of them had to be dressed in a certain way, down to the smallest detail.”
Jones’ work for the film ranged from formal ball gowns for Queen Clarisse and Princess Mia, a wedding dress, coronation finery, to the attire worn by members of Parliament and the military uniforms worn by the Genovian National Guard. Formal soirees and royal ceremonies abound in the film, and the costumes had to reflect the regal atmosphere. Jones worked closely with Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews on their characters’ costumes, including Princess Mia’s birthday dress, a beautiful, strapless red ball gown, one of more than 50 costume changes Anne Hathaway had for the film.

Re: Princess Diaries 2: A Royal Engagement

Re: Princess Diaries 2: A Royal Engagement
I saw something on the news last week- specifically about the Princess Diaries and hwo they are making furniture and stuff that was featured in the movie, available for public sale- like replicas of the set.. Maybe you can find the story- I probably saw it eithe ron channel 7 or 5.. See if they have a press contact and you can call them.I would also do a search for Princess Diaries and see who their PR agency is-- at the bottom of any press release it usually has a PR contact at the bottom. You can get dress info from them. Search on PRNewswire.com or Businesswire.com for 'Princess Diaries'- it's free to search.

Re: Princess Diaries 2: A Royal Engagement
I remember someone on here (either former or current LIW poster) had a seamstress make her dress for her. If you can find enough good shots of Anne Hathaway in the dress perhaps the seamstress can make a replica of it for you. And it would not be that expensive, either.ETA: I am sorry I don't think she actually made the dress for her - I can't find the post now either. I'm going to FM you though.

Re: Princess Diaries 2: A Royal Engagement
OOps, don't know what happened to my post there, but it won't even let me edit.I was saying that I absolutely love this dress and wish I was getting married again so I could get it!!!
But, the dress from teh movie looks similar to an Oleg Cassini that was on the David's Bridal website a while ago. Also, it looks pretty typical of Priscilla of Boston, so you might want to try their website. Or Ramona Keveza (sp?)
