I think it depends. I know my circle of friends and family if I put the correct time on the invite they will miss the ceremony.

I completely agree. I put 1/2 hour earlier on my invite because I KNOW MY FAMILY, they're always late. His family is not too far behind. My intention was not to be rude, just want everyone to be there to share in my joy.

that would seriously irritate me. if people come late, they come late and that's their problem. the show will go on with or without them.

i don't like that idea. i would hate to sit around for over a half hour. as long as FH, I and our immediate families are there, i don't care if no one else shows.

This is exactly how I feel, since I am the one that ends up sitting around for 30-60 minutes while all the latecomers decide to roll in. I put 3:30 on my invites and I was walking down the aisle at 3:30. If people were late, I didn't notice, I was busy at the altar

i agree, i dont think i would like those who show up late and come down the isle after me.. or see me before walking down the isle...

We were told to put 4 for our 4:30 ceremony. There will be a champagne greeting for our guests.

We are having our ceremony and reception at a Temple with the cocktail hour immediately following the ceremony. Our invitation calls for 7pm at which time there will be a hospitality half hour - champagne and some edibles (possibly coffee b/c it will be so cold) but not a cocktail hour per se. The ceremony will start promptly at 7:30. Cocktail hour will start at 8. Reception at 9.

People are ALWAYS late and even though this is Saturday night, people get lost or lazy (not getting out on time). My maitre'd/ ridal attendant will be under strict instructions that all doors to the sanctuary are closed to guests at 7:30. I DO NOT want to walk down the aisle with late comers. I saw it happen at a few weddings and it looked horrible - people walking in behind a bride and a groom.

my guests were also served cocktails (got married at the hall), I doubt anyone minded waiting

I am planning on it. Although instead, on the direction card to the ceremony location, I may just add that due to parking constraints it is recommended that everyone arrive 1/2 hour earlier so they can catch the transport to the ceremony from parking and not have to walk.

I am putting 11:30 for a 12:00 ceremony.
