I started saying pasta sometimes to my non-italian friends because people thought I was referring to kraft mac and cheese ...haha.

my friends used to think the same thing!!!! I tried to say pasta but just could not get in the habit.

We are Italian and we say sauce. But my step-mom is Italian too, and her family says gravy.

I call it sauce but my dad calls it gravy. we both say macaroni though. every sunday its macaroni and sauce!

I am 100% Italian - both my Mom and my father are Italian...and we ALWAYS say

Sauce
Macaroni

And, the macaroni thing comes from my great-grandfather on Mom's side, who was the first ever Ronzoni salesman! Way back when, they sold macaroni door to door sometimes!

My mom and family (Italian) made gravy, and put it over macaroni.

Ditto....My mom is very italian and she made GRAVY this always bothered me so I am trying to change it to sauce!!!!
