Well I booked in 04' and i have a lot of people. it eaiers to negotiate when you book early and have a TON of people.

I invited 370 but i hope only 250-300 come

yeah I have FM then :), I know I feel for the oldest trick in the book with these ppl at HTH..I wish someone goes an books my date so I can get my money back...

Why don't you just go somewhere that you ONLY have to pay a site fee and then get a caterer separately...

Like Oheka... There is a 10,000 site fee... But in reality that is all your paying since your mom is doing the catering...

Right???

Why pay 30,000 for somewhere w/o food...???

I was unaware of such a thing a site fee, I was clear when I went to speak with these vendors, they knew I would have outside catering, yet they quoted me prices per head. I should have done more research, I totally dont have any experience with these things.

That's my favorite thing about this site, you're talking with people who are going through or have went through what you are, they aren't trying to sell you anything. It's the best reference out there.

I think maybe the problem is that most of these places have their own caterer, and so they might charge you more than a place like a park, etc, that doesn't usually provide catering as well, if that makes sense. If you bring your own caterer to a catering hall, the hall isn't making as much money off of you on catering, so they give you a higher price than a place that doesn't provide catering.

ok, it's not as complicated as I'm making it sound.

But the simple part comes down to - why not look at places that do not have an in-house caterer? For example, the Vanderbilt Museum in Centerport charges a flat fee of I think $3000 (although I could be wrong) to use their location (they have a really nice permanent tent in a gorgeous location looking over the water). Coindre hall does something similar, but they are all indoors. I'd check out places like that rather than catering halls (like the Huntington Townhouse, etc).

Anyone have any great reception halls that might be available this summer??

I went to a few places and the prices are unbelievable.

The avergae price I heard was 75pp+tax and service.

Any words of wisdom?

That's really inexpensive. I went to some 'inexpensive' places for WINTER and the cheapest quote I got was higher than that!

Maybe try to Hamlet Windwatch in Hauppauge. It's a beautiful reception hall, only one wedding at a time, and the price was the least expensive compared to anywhere else I looked.
