We did invites also. They were around $1 each and everyone loved them. We had a Yankee theme.

Ours was word of mouth but we only had like 20 people.

We did invites b/c we had over 50 people several of whom lived outside of LI.

I think invites are nice. You can do something simple like print the out on nice paper on your computer. it's nice to get invitations to things and then you don't have to worry about forgetting to call someone or them not writing it down

I sent out a general email with the church rehearsal info and evites for dinner. It was a small group. A larger group would have called for regular invites.

We did DIY invites for the RD, after-party and next-day brunch. Separate invites for each.

I think they were sent out about 6 weeks before the wedding with a response date of 2 weeks before.

We did invites and they weren't that expensive. We liked that it was a little more formal. We used a great vendor on ebay, Sweetxoxo, who also did the tags for our OOT boxes.

ETA: These are the invites we ordered, except obviously, they said Rehearsal Dinner. Our RD was at an Asian fusion restaurant, so the cherry blossoms went well with the theme
