Re: RSVP that broke my heart
That's so sad, but instead of calling him directly is there anyone in the family you can call to get an idea of why he couldnt attend? Then you might be better prepared to talk to him in person. I hope everything works out.

I'm so sorry, that must be very painful. I hope you can speak to him and I'm sure he has a very good explanation.

Re: RSVP that broke my heart
I am sure he has a good reason. Did you ask why??My FH's Aunt isn't coming and we had my FMIL that we understand she is coming from out of State and it is expensive to get here, but we really want her hear. We don't even want a gift, the best gift we can get is her presence at the wedding...
You should ask him... Maybe he doesn't have the money and feels if he reponds yes, he ahs to give you a gift, but if he responds no he doesn't

Re: RSVP that broke my heart
I completely understand. My cousin didnt' come to my wedding, because she didn't want to drive the 3 1/2 hours to NY. Meanwhile, a few years ago DH and I drove 8 hours to be at her wedding! I was so angry and hurt, and I haven't talked to her since the wedding.

Re: RSVP that broke my heart
UPDATE: my mother informed me that traveling to new jersey from manhattan would be too much for my uncle. i feel that's a crock of sh!t, because we all know that this part of the country has a lot of public transportation.i guess i'm a big girl and have to just deal with the unpleasantries and disappointments of life.
ladies, thank you for all your kind words. all your wonderful thoughts have helped me feel better. there was a moment there when i thought no one would understand and all of you showed me that you understand and care. again, thank you so much for your kind words

Re: RSVP that broke my heart...UPDATE
Could someone else pick him up on their way to NJ? Or get car service for him? I'm sorry he can't/won't make the trip, since you are so close to him. I hope something can be worked out!

Re: RSVP that broke my heart...UPDATE
AWWWW I would call-there has to be some reason behind the not attending. I agree maybe there is something going on you don't know about.
