I've heard The Sandcastle throws one hell of a wedding. One of my girlfriends said it was up there with Russo's on the Bay.

Only the 767-6712 phone number was listed on the card. No address....and a different web page (though I haven't been able to connect.)

Hi Dena. I have never been to a wedding at Sandcastle or Chateau Briand. I have been to weddings at Jericho Terrace. They are nicely done and the food is really good. Definetly worth a try. I do know that they do more than one wedding at a time if that doesnt bother you. Good Luck!

thank you for your responses. russo's i've never been to is that a great place also? how is the pricing? my problem is i have to invote like 225 people and i can't afford 100 a head. I looked at fox hollow which was beautiful but i can't afford it. it stinks having a huge family. if there is anywhere else you can think of please let me know. thanks

I am not sure of the prices but try Milleridge Inn, Swan Club (everyone raves about this place), Crest Hollow CC, I am not sure where you live but the Watermill or Meadow club are really nice too they are in Suffolk and I have been to weddings at both. Good Luck!

Unless you're an excellent haggler, both Sand Castle and Jericho Terrace run well over $100.00 a head for a Saturday evening affair. I've been to an affair at Sand Castle and it is incredible. The food is outrageous. See what you can do about chewing them down. I went to check out Sand Castle during my planning, and as a "bridal novice" and they quoted me $110.00 a head (without tax and gratuity) for a Saturday evening in March. I didn't haggle at all because I had my mind set on someplace else. I'm sure they could do better than that, though. Crest Hollow is a very nice place, but it's a wedding go-round. Many affairs going on at once. Best of luck in your planning.

Wow, How wild is that. Sounds like and omen to me. I would suggest that you definitely got for a trial, looks like you were supposed to use her. Good luck, keep me posted on your results

Dena, I have been to a wedding at Jericho Terrace, Chateau Briand and I am getting married at Floral Terrace which is the sister property to Sand Castle. We also looked there for our wedding. Here are my opinions: Jericho Terrace is nice. I was not blown away by any aspect of the place, but I also did not have any complaints. Chateau Briand, puts on a Great cocktail hour and the service was good. The larger room is a replica of one of the famous cruise ships ball rooms, and the bride and the groom come out of the floor. Sand castle, the manager over there is a Doll his name is Jim, he used to be the manager at Floral terrace and he actually booked my wedding. I was not too thrilled with the mid-evil decor, so I booked at the sister property Floral Terrace, which I just love and they do one wedding at a time which was something that I was looking for. Personally, if I had to choose between the three that you listed it would be Chateau Briand. good luck, I hope that this helps. Sand castle has a web site, it is http://www.sandcastlecaterers.com

I went to check out Jericho terrace and was not treated well at all! When I started to explain what we wanted to do ( a sunday brunch for about 100) the banquet manager stood up and told us they didn't do that sort of thing. I was surprised at how rude he was. I understand I have a small affair, but no need to be rude. Just my experiene. Other people may have had a great experience. Good luck :-}

Sharon is right, Sand Castle can do much better, and it also has to do with how far in advance you plan your wedding and how flexible you are. I went there in June, and was looking for a Sat. Evening in March they quote me $65++ with out too much work! Yes Sharon and I are talking about the same March (2000) but I was also planning a wedding 9 months in advance, and on average a Bride from LI plans her wedding anywhere from a year to a year and a half in advance, some longer. So at that point, they wanted the date booked. If you are really interested in Sand Castle, I would suggest that you go to FT first they are a few $$ (5 or 10 per head) cheaper, and they honor each others quotes. I got a lot of great deals by planning my wedding in 9 months, but I also had to be very flexible. It is a crime how much I am paying for my wedding.(Sharon will vouch for me on that) Yes it is in February (the 26th) and yes it is an afternoon, but I still got a steel. I have a co-worker who paid almost triple. If you are on a budget, my advise is to be flexible and do not plan too far in advance. for example, if you are planning a year and a half in advance say in Sept. (most popular) on a Sat. night, you need them, they will have a dozen other brides come in and look at the same date, and some will take it at any price just to have a specific date. But if it is March and you are looking at September, if they have anything left, you call the price, because chances are it is a cancellation and they will not book it so close to the date. I also have a friend who got Chateau LaMer at $45 for a Sat in March, but she planned her wedding in three months. that is a little too close for comfort for me, but if you are organized and plan you can easily plan a wedding in 6 months. I did all of my major details in 1 month, because my Future Hubby was moving to NJ, but since then I have really been shopping around and making myself crazy. I think that most people, myself included plan so far in advance so that thy can save and budget, lets face it weddings are an expensive proposition. If you are on a budget, choose a price in your head be firm and stick too it!! BE FLEXIBLE!! I did and it works. I invited 240 people, and $100 per person was out of the question!! Hope this helps!!

Karen, I do not know if you booked yet, but if you are looking for a nice place one affair at a time good service and good food try crystalbrook in east meadow. I had my Mom's retirement party there and they were great (about 110 people) It does not have all of the glitz that Jericho Terrace has but once you are in the ball room and having a good time with good food and good service everyone forgets that. good luck Jamelle

My wedding is also at the Sandcastle and I love the place too. They have always worked with me on everything and threw in a lot of extras!!! The price was reasonable even though I booked it almost 2 years in advance.

I thought the prices were reasonable and I've heard they do the best coctail hour around!!

thank you so much for all the input. I didn't like the crest hollow too much, i felt like i was inn a hotel or a wedding factory. i thought the prices were a little more reasonable at the fox hollow. i am definatley gonna check out the sandcastle. does anyone know what their new garden area looks like? I was hoping to get married the first week of november 2001. i keep thinking that march and february are too cold, eventhough the prices are much cheaper. thanks again for sharing!

Good Luck!

The garden area is BEAUTIFUL. I am having my ceremony out in the garden (as long as the weather is ok) in October. I truly love the place and am really looking forward to the 'Big Day".

I don't remember all the details off the top of my head but I know they gave me the better menu for the cheaper price, they also threw in Dessert trays on the tables in addition to the cake. I know there were a few more extras but I don't know off the top of my head.

I'll see if I can't dig up my contract (I moved recently) and I'll give you an update if I find it.

That would be great Teresa!! Any info you can give would be wonderful!!

Marble, chandeliers and glitz are not our style- this is more of a chalet setting w/ excellant food and service. One waiter per table...during the reception is a nice touch for our guests.

Bring your appetite! The cocktail hour is very lavish and during the reception, you have a choice of entrees, or you can sample all of them! Never heard of a place that will offer guests seconds of their entree! Just expect to pay for this. I negoitated a better rate by having a daytime wedding and he knocked off an additional $3/person...which with 185 guests is a savings of $555!
