Scarsella's

I went for a florist consultation on Sat. at Scarsella's and I thought they were great. But, they seemed VERY expensive. We are having a pretty average size wedding (135 people) and were quoted $5500 for flowers... Does this seen unreasonable? Maybe we didn't budget correctly for flowers.... I need advice.

I am in the same situation. I think the best way to do it is to have a separate reception invitation (I believe that this is the traditional way to do invitations anyway) The ceremony invitation is the standard wording and then the reception invitation usually reads something like:

Reception to follow at: Place at Six Thirty in the Evening etc.

$5,500 seems outrageous to me. I went to 3 florists and was quoted between $2500 and $3500 for a 250 person wedding. The most expensive item is the centerpiece which ranged from $50-$125 per table. You might want to get quotes from other places. Make sure they are using in-season flowers, which are always less expensive than out-of-season flowers. For example, roses are great to use in the summer.

Good luck!

Actually, I am getting married in Nov and I am not really a flower lover... I love candles and rawed iron... They quoted that much for rawed iron candelabras and very few flowers...Do you mind me asking where you found those great deals?

Good luck!

Wow! That seems awfully high! Can anyone recommend a florist in Nassau County that's seems more reasonable?

Good luck!

Rosalyn,

5500 is EXTREMELY high. I am having 150 people at my wedding and was quoted 3200 at one place and 2000 at another. We are going with the 2000 place. It's Jack and Rose Florist and it really does seem like they give you a lot for your money. They also come recommended by someone

I am REALLY hesitant to use Flowers by Brian... I have never heard a good story.. Only traumatic ones... Kind of makes me weary...One thing about Scarsella's is that they are small and only do a max. of 2 weddings per day... Thanks for all the great advice though...

Thanks, Tara

I'm also using Jack & Rose. I met with Jack at their Woodbury office. They are located on Jericho Turnpike. Their phone number is 516-367-8666.

When I was looking at florists their prices were right in the middle. Not the cheapest & not the most expensive. But, I think they are definitely giving me the most for the money. Also, they didn't try to inflate the price by suggesting things we really did not need. In fact, they persuaded us not to include something that another florist said we needed.

Good Luck ! Lorraine

I would try Sharon Lange florist in Westbury. Let her know I sent you. You can find her number in the yellow pages.

I'd never heard of that place but will be sure to visit it soon! Thanks - as always - for your words of wisdom! Much appreciated!

Boy does it sound like we have similair taste LOL I got them at FantasyLand in Patchogue. There are different price ranges depending on what kind of stem you want. I think mine were less than $1 because I decorated them myself. You should take a ride out there, they would definitely have frames too. I planned half of my wedding from that place! Gina :)
