Re: Second job to save money
Im on the same boat. Just started the wedding fund and thanks to the family and a lovely engagement party, it was something to start us off.Now that we know what we need to put away, it just seems like something else takes away from it. My car needs a $200 part, FH has to pay back IRS(something got screwed up).....who knows whats next!
I want another job too but FH is a cop and does not want me to get another job due to his crappy hrs and if he does get time off, he wants me available. I just say its a sacrifice we have to take then staying POOR!
Also, my job requires me to be here on a sat(once a month).
Ugghhhh! I need a cash job, thats the best way.

Re: Second job to save money
I in the process of looking for a second job. I'd rather not work in retail, but I have a feeling that is what I'm going to end up doing.I know it varies from store to store, but can anyone give me an average range of pay per hour? I've been out of retail for so long I wouldn't know what is a fair rate and what isn't.
Thanks.

Re: Second job to save money
NOw that I've found a teaching job, I have such funky hours - both morning/afternoons, and evenings with big breaks in between. We've got a lot keeping us busy for the next few weekends, but I think mid-October I'll be looking to work at the local Starbucks Fri, Sat, and Sun for the next 9 months. I seems to recall them paying pretty decent - AND free coffee! hehe! The thought of going back to working on weekends suc*s though.

I do have one! ERF! Its not easy...I work as a consultant by day, and LUCKILY I'm a project that does not travel and have a waitressing job at a fancy steakhouse (Morton's) at night...nothing to brag about but it definitely helps PLUS I do the Naval Reserves (I was active for 6 yrs.) AND I'm just breaking even with wedding costs....! I just found out I have to pay for chair covers (i thought they were included!!) its never ending the tab for this wedding!!

I just can't work on my weekends...I need my weekends.

Re: Second job to save money
I used to bartend for extra money. Then I got tired of it.I am currently working on average 48 hours a week at my full time job, then my fiance and i have a second job where together we work about 4 hours and bring home $85. We are looking to quit that job though. I hate it.
Hopefully him and I will get decent raises this year to cover our expenses. It sucks living practically paycheck to paycheck. Between the wedding, our mortgage, and our 'child' (our 4 month old puppy) we are BROKE!

Re: Second job to save money
I guess it is something I could consider. Although, my soon to be hubby's uncle is supposed to hook me up with a side job which entails a couple of hours and an income of about 400-500 for the week. Which would be fantastic! I'll find out if it's goin through on Sunday at a family birthday party on his side. Cross your fingers and wish me luck!

Re: Second job to save money
I was waiting tables for the past 8 months, 6-12 Wed nite, friday nite, and saturday nite. It was good while it lasted, now I get home at 6:30, so I can't make the shift anymore. I do miss the extra money

Re: Second job to save money
For all you bartending and waitressing ladies... I've thought about doing this but don't have any experience (I was a hostess at a restaurant for a bit, but that's it). Do you find it necessary to have experience to get this kind of job - especially in the city???
