Re: Seeing the groom before the ceremony

FH and I decided that this is the best thing for us to do. We are probably going to have about 175 people, and we want to enjoy ourselves throughout the night, and not have to worry about taking the majority of the pictures right after the ceremony and into the coctail hr/reception.

We did this too, it worked out great for us!

Re: Seeing the groom before the ceremony

Pics BEFORE the ceremony definitely, why miss your cocktail hour? Just make sure guests don't see you during pictures beforehand, you want to make your grand entrance!

Re: Seeing the groom before the ceremony

We did photos beforehand and I totally would recommend it! I do not regret my decision one bit. We were able to spend the entire time during CH with our guests and were able to enjoy ourselves during the reception. It also made it easier for me walking down the aisle and saying my vows

What are everyone's thoughts about seeing the groom before the ceremony?? We're having a Friday night wedding and wanted to get the pictures out of the way so we can enjoy the night. Also because we want to have the ceremony and cocktail hour go right into each together.

We did this and I was so happy we did. i had issues with my mom, sis and moh and seeing my husband before the ceremony and taking pictures totallly calmed me down and let me enjoy the rest of our wedding day. I am so glad we took pictures before the ceremony.

Re: Seeing the groom before the ceremony

I have no choice. We are Jewish and we are having a sort of bedeken (veiling) and have to sign the ketubah beforehand. He wont be in our place the night before. As long as he HAS to see me before we walk down the aisle, we are taking pictures as well.

Re: Seeing the groom before the ceremony

We were sure we were going to do this-but now 'we' (read: me) have changed our minds. I really want the first time everyone-especially my fiance-sees me to be when I walk down the aisle. I am looking forward to seeing his face for the first time that day. Also, I want that 'just married' glow when we take our pictures. We are going to take all of the BP pictures before hand so hopefully the combined pictures will only tak 30-40 minutes. Our hall will have people come out to the beach (where we are taking our pictures) w/food etc. so hopefully we will still get to taste everything.

Either way you do it will be great.

Re: Seeing the groom before the ceremony

I would really like to do pictures before so that there isnt a gap between the ceremony and the reception-but FH doesnt want to see me before...so that idea went out the window really quick

We saw each other before the ceremony, and I'm so glad we did. Here's the picture of our first moment seeing each other.

I really didn't want to see him before the ceremony, and he didn't want to miss CH. Instead we changed the ceremony to 3 PM offsite from the reception. We will be doing pictures after the ceremony, and still make it to CH at 7 PM.

Me too! Our ceremony is at the church at 3, and then we take pics..we didn't want to miss CH either, since it's so great where we are, and that way we can greet everyone and not have to worry about going to table to table during reception, we can just have fun

Re: Seeing the groom before the ceremony

I won't see him before the ceremony. But, I have the luxury of a 3 hour timespan between the ceremony and reception to get all out 'together' pictures done.

Re: Seeing the groom before the ceremony

FI and I both do not want to see eachother before the ceremony... I just can't wait to see his face when I walk down the aisle!!

Although our photographer is pressuring us to take pics before hand. But our ceremony is at 5 - and only 20-30 minutes, and our CH starts at 7. We are not taking a lot of posed pics anyway, so I think we can make it. We want to attend the whole cocktail hour, so our photographer better be organized!

The only pics are my immediate fam (4 people) his immediate fam (also 4 people) and the bridal party. Neither of us have grandparents, and I'm not doing aunts and uncle shots...

Re: Seeing the groom before the ceremony

We saw each other before the ceremony and I'm really glad we did it that way. We went to the planting fields arboretum to take pics that morning. The photographer captured the moment when we saw each other for the first time and we had our 'moment' together without being in front of everyone. DH, my parents, and and I were the only ones at the arboretum so we were able to spend quality time together before everything got crazy. After about an hour we went to the Crescent to take family and bridal party pics. Seeing my soon-to-be-husband before the ceremony really helped me stay calm that morning and forget about anything that may go wrong that day. Some of my favorite pics were at the arboretum and we couldn't have taken those unless we saw each other beforehand. We were also able to get all of the family and bridal party pics done before the ceremony so we could enjoy our cocktail hour and the reception. Our ceremony and reception were at the same place and I didn't want the posed pics to take time away from the reception.

We are taking pictures before the ceremony, but are not seeing each other. FH will take his with BP, family, etc. Then me, BP, family, etc. We then have our ceremony...the we have an hour & 1/2 CH. We're factoring together pics & family, etc. and still have enough time to enjoy 1/2-45 mins of CH.

We're doing the same. I just really want that one minute when FH sees me walking down the aisle for the first time.

OMG I can't agree w/ you more. When I start to cry w/ my dad walking w/ me I want him to remember that moment for the rest of his life. Beside I feel like if he takes his pics, and I take mines before the ceremony, after the ceremony we should have enough time to still be apart of the CH for atleast 20 min.
I just can't wait!

Since we are not getting married at a church, we are going to be taking pics before the ceremony. It works out the best for us and I think it will help us to not be so nervous.

Ditto here! We really want to enjoy the CH!

Re: Seeing the groom before the ceremony

We're not. One photography will be with him and the GM and
the other one will be with me and my BM. After the ceremony we'll take family and bridal party shots. It's not a big deal to me if we miss the cocktail hour.
