i buy petite and they're still too long!! i bought a pair not that long ago made by alfani and i swear they were at least 4 inches too long, now i know i'm short (under 5') but in who's world were those petite? arghhhh.... and don't forget some of us may buy petite but if you have short legs it won't really matter.

Have you tried those express tailors around Ludlow Street and Rivington Street in Manhattan? They are very inexpensive - around $4-5 for basic hemming. They are good for basic hemming and shortening of things. I would not use them for anything intricate or complicated, though.

But I was looking at Eddie Bauers petites and they are 29 1/2 long!!! My 6'6' DH wears 34 - 36'! It just doesn't make sense to me.

I am SO lazy. I just wear skirts!

I buy petite if I can find them but I am 5'4', so I am on the borderline, but I have short legs. I usually have to buy a size bigger in petites & they are are hard to find.

I bought a pair of pants I love in Filene's that are not petite & I didn't around to getting them hemmed, so I used that hem tape, but not the iron on kind. It was okay for a day, but I think I have to get them done. Wow $10-$15 is a lot.

DH can fix a hem, maybe he can make a new one.

I think that is standard.
I think I am about a 28. I'm not really 'petite', but I know I have short legs. People always say, 'but you're not that short'. I appear taller sitting. its weird. Shirts come untucked, but pants are too long.
usually a short, or ankle length pant or a petites will be ok with heels. Petites are usally a little shorter than ones that are short or ankle length.

I think it's standard also. My legs are like 26.5 or something so I have to get a lot chopped off even with petites.

That's why I love summer...cropped pants are fine and don't need to be altered.

i feel your pain christine, i think i'm a 26. this summer i bought cropped pants from the gap in the long size b/c the inseam was 26. they fit me perfectly as regular pants

i've given up trying to find pants that have the right length. if they look good everywhere else i buy them.
