Honestly...I think it's more embarrassing for her! Noone is obviously going to mistake her for the bride but I guarantee your guests will be talking! I went to a wedding where a guest wore an ivory dress and it was the talk of the wedding!

This is what I think too -- she's look like a fool that's trying to upstage the bride. The only time I thought this was okay was at my cousin's wedding like 5 years ago where a very very pregnant woman wore an off white dress. She was like 9 months pregnant and we all just figured it was the only thing that fit. Anyone else looks like an idiot.

I would be just as bothered as you. You should ask her to accessorize her dress with some color. Or ask someone to say it for you to her.

Can you have your FH or maybe FMIL say something to her if it is bothering you.

I agree- see if there is someone else that can say it is inappropriate to wear white and ivory and cream to a wedding.

I went to a wedding in chicago last summer and I counted about 5 people wearing white. I was shocked and appalled! I thought it was common knowledge that wearing white and ivory etc to someone elses wedding was not right....

I really don't understand how you don't think wearing white/ivory/cream is wrong at a wedding. My parents went to a wedding where there were four people in white! One crazy woman wore a skin tight white dress that was short with no underwear and you can clearly see her butt and crack and EVERY DETAIL in the pics.

I would say something or have your mom say something.

Was there any other color on the dress or just all ivory?

I also agree, an ivory dress is not a wedding dress and besides wont you have your hair and makuep and jewlery and veil...

I would let the benefit of the doubt, because they might really not know better.

My 16 year old cousins didn't know about this rule and one of them wore white to my cousins wedding. No one noticed no one cared. I was the only one in a fury because I kept thinking they could do this to me...

but they really just didn't know. They were like its a summer wedding, and white is so in, why shouldn't we wear white.
