Smoking Brides
Or should I say, brides that smoke. Do you plan on trying to quit before the wedding??I don't think I will end up quitting before the wedding due to weight gain or stress relief, but I definitely don't want to miss out on any of the wedding because I am outside puffing.

Re: Smoking Brides
I don't smoke, but FH does and lots of both of our families. It'll probably be a party outside. And, chances are, if you're not in the room, nothing of consequence is going on.

Re: Smoking Brides
I tried to stop- was able to for about 2 months and started again. I am only smoking 3 or 4 a day. I am not planning on smoking after I put on my dress. I am afraid I may burn it!

Re: Smoking Brides
I quit cold turkey 3 months before the wedding and I'm still going strong! 179 days and counting!I wasn't at the point where I 'wanted' to quit (sick as that sounds) - but it was the greatest thing I did for myself. DH does not smoke at all so he was thrilled as well. I just didn't want to have to smoke in my wedding dress.
It can be done girls!
If anyone decides to quit and want some support, feel free to FM me!

Re: Smoking Brides
I just quit because I got serioussss bronchitus and can't afford a relapse... FH and I agreed to quit before the big day, but he hasn't yet. He will be cutting down so he doesnt feel the need to go outside during the weddingI refuse to let him smoke during the ceremony or reception. If he has to he can go out durng cocktail for a smoke, but thats it, We paid too much for this day to go outside and smoke all night

Re: Smoking Brides
I quit about 2 years ago cold turkey. I've only had maybe two instances where I considered going out to buy a pack, but thank god I have strong will power and didn't give in
I was also not a heavy smoker so that may have helped.

Re: Smoking Brides
FH quit smoking over 4 years ago, so he would love for me to quit, but I just don't have the WANT to quit yet. I definitely don't want to be wearing a nicotine patch at my wedding either. If I tried to quit now, I would definitely kill someone, so I will try closer to the wedding. We will see what happens.

I swear to you I didn't 'want' to either - just felt like my desire to smoke was not as strong as my desire to NOT want to smoke at my wedding! My family does not know I ever smoked so it would have been awful for me, and in the end, that's what got me over the edge.
I still miss it sometimes, but it's 100% mental and 0% physical.
ETA I have a friend who used Chantix with great success as well ... but have heard that might not be for everyone.

My parents smoked for close to 44 years. My dad smoked 3+ packs a day and my mom 1.5 packs a day. Over a year ago they both quit using chantix. They both chew a lot of gum now. My mom says she hasnt lost the urge yet and she doesnt think she ever will, but shes come to far to turn back.
In the mean time my dad was diagnosed with early stage emphysema

Re: Smoking Brides
I smoke, but def wont be smoking from the moment my dress goes on me. very minimal smoking will be done on that day.besides my parents will be staying with us and my mom always counts how many I have (eventho she's a smoker hehe) so I wont be able to smoke as I usually do.
I did quit a few yrs ago for like 3-4 months and I was ok, but now with all this stress all I want to do is puff - ugh!
FH didnt smoke for like 5 yrs till he started dating me (oopsy!), so for him this will be a breeze
