Re: Sorry to Start Another Thread but Opinions On Winter Weddings?

Thanks everyone!

I think it's really exciting that I can look at some places that were too expensive for me when I wanted a wedding next September because some are such a bargain in the winter! I think it's worth having a place I realllly like.

Re: Sorry to Start Another Thread but Opinions On Winter Weddings?

I'm getting married at the end of March. We could have a blizzard. Or it could be 65 degrees and sunny. We're ready for anything.

But you never know what you're going to get with the weather at any time of year. Remember that it rained practically every weekend from mid-May through June of this year! Those poor brides thought they would have beautiful summer days.
You just never know.

Definite bonus--reception places and catering halls absolutely offer discounts from after NY's Eve until mid-April.

Re: Sorry to Start Another Thread but Opinions On Winter Weddings?

Relax, it is definately worth it. I am having my wedding on Feb 7, 2004 and I can't wait. The winter is such a cozy beautiful time of the year. We picked the winter and then went looking for halls and could not believe the price difference. So I totally felt like I made out in two ways....a winter wedding and a good deal. Don't stress it will be a great time of year.

I got married 1/31. It was a pretty good day- not too cold and not really raining or snowing. We had a lot of out of town guests and they had no problem travelling.

I didn't want to pay the extra $$$ for a May or June date when there was no guarantee that the weather would be perfect on those days. Also- I really liked the idea of it being dark because when I think of a formal, black tie affair I always think the sun should be down.

Winter weddings are beautiful!! Obviously, the only thing to be wary of is a blizzard, but in Decembr or January you should be okay!

Re: Sorry to Start Another Thread but Opinions On Winter Weddings?

I got married at the end of March which is the beginning of spring. I wasn't too nervous about the weather b/c there is nothing you can do. It was about 60-65 degrees that day but a bit windy. The sun came out from the time I left my house till the end of the church. On the way to the reception site it started to pour and continued through the whole night but I didn't even notice the rain. I was too happy and having a great time at my reception.

Re: Sorry to Start Another Thread but Opinions On Winter Weddings?

Those are beautiful pictures!

Now I'm bummed because my friend pointed out then I might not be able to get a strapless or spaghett-strap dress like I wanted because it's not going to go with winter. What month is it still okay to wear those types of dresses?
