Now knowing the whole story that is just plain ol' crazy. One days notice??? I would be pissed at my sister... the getting married first thing, whatever, but come on, give your family a little bit of notice. She's just isolating you guys and creating an awkward situation. It's unfair to the people who care about her and would want to be there for her on her wedding day.

This is like FBIL, he's in this huge freakin rush now to find 'the one' because his little brother is getting married first. He's been dating this girl for a month, took her to Italy for a week and called FH to tell him things are 'moving quickly.' Lets call a spade a spade here...

I am sorry you won't be able to go to your sister's wedding and that you feel she is rushing into something that may not be the best choice and for the wrong reasons. I would be upset too.

Nope ... not a one .... its very sad

ETA : We would have gone, don't get me wrong, but a phone call the evening before your wedding does not give anyone the time to go to another state to be there at a wedding. I wish I could be there

Awww that stinks, but don't feel like it's your fault!! Just because you are getting married in February, doesn't mean she needs to get married this afternoon, alone! My FBIL got engaged right after FH and I did and they didn't rush out to the altar! They're holding off and getting married in 2011. DOn't feel guilty about it, it's not your fault. It's your sister's own choice. It is sad though and not just for your sis but your whole family. I'm sure they'd love to be there.

This is the 2nd sibling to become engaged during our engagment ... FH's brother is getting married 3 weeks after us ... so I would not have cared when she got married, we had this battle already emotionally .... what's one more wedding? I don't mean that sarcastically either ...

WOW! That's crazy!! At least everyone will be able to attend FBIL's wedding! I know my family, including myself, would be SO hurt if we couldn't go. Have you talked to your parents about it?

Truth of the matter is, she could even be married already ... so, I am going to try not to think about it and hope this is not upsetting my mother too much.

I have to try and stay excited that I sent out my invites yesterday (sent them WAY before I knew ANY of this was going on)

And that my mom is going to see me in my wedding dress on Saturday for the first time ...

i'm sorry. maybe you can talk her in to having a small renewal ceremony or reception here in the near future so that the family members who were not able to attend can share this occasion with her.

Look at it this way hon, your wedding will be better than hers ever did because you actually took your time to plan something NICE and will have your family there as well as FH's. Your sister rushed into her marriage and she's going to look back at her wedding day in 10 years and realize what a doofus she was for not taking her time and INVITING her own sister/family to it with PROPER NOTICE!!!!

Hands down, you are doing just fine and your sister will realize the impact of her choice on you and your family.
