I am so upset for you...I can't believe you weren't even allowed to send out the invites you wanted...and HER DAUGHTER DOESN'T WANT HER SHOWER IN SEPTEMBER! Mom sounds like a handful, I am so sorry!

ETA: I am still in shock, but am wondering what happened...why did her mom completely leave you out of the planning? Grrrrrrrrrrrr I would be so pissed if that was my mom!
It has NOTHING to do with the place...but rather with the pregnant woman's wishes...and the fact that it's her 1st baby...geez!

ETA: Again, because this time I had time to calm down and think (somewhat)...
Her mom is not a biatch...I so take that back. Being so would mean not caring, not booking anything, not sending invites, not making an effort. She seems gun ho about this shower and it stinks that you're left out of it but I hope it turns out amazingly great and your friend/MOH is 'showered' with love, family and friends!

I now return to my normal thinking abilities!

I called her mom right after I opened it. She was busy and said she'd call me back in about in hour. She did say that she had a problem that she wanted to talk to me about. And she apologized for it being on Saturday, but that was the best day for everyone. It really is no big deal.

I actually have to agree with Amy! Yes...tell her you found a nicer place for a lot less. Make up some story about your MOH hates Chinese Buffets if you have to...this is her first Baby Shower...it should be SPECIAL...this is a toughie...

ETA: Villa Lombardi's for $29.95? Holy cow, how could you pass that up? Your MOH would LOVE it! Do they have a minimum!

geesh jill sounds like her mom is a bit off - so what was the big problem she had to talk to you about?

sometimes mom's get a bit out of control - i hope your friend doesnt get upset about being at the chinese buffet - try to make the best of it - make sure she has fun

The 'problem' was getting the chair to the place, b/c mom does not have a car. But that was easily resolved.

So, I am okay with this now, b/c I know I can concentrate on getting her some AWSOME gifts!!! Also, MOH's neice (who is 19, lives in AZ and has a 4 mo old son) was originally not coming to the shower, but now she is and WITH the baby. MOH will be SO excited, b/c she did not think she would get to see the baby until next year!!!!

Just spend some extra money on decorations, CPs, and a great cake to make things seem a little nicer. Maybe you can talk to the restaurant and instead of walking up to the regular buffet part, they can set something up in the private room for you. Or maybe you can have them serve everything family style on the tables so it looks a little less 'cheap.'

Glad to hear! And it's the people that make showers great, so I'm glad she'll have her niece and will get to meet the baby!

I agree with nferrandi...definitely decorate a LOT!

Try CAFE GRAPPA in East Meadow on Hempstead Tpke. great place resonable price very nice private room and the food is to die for. Check it out they have great package deals
