All the Atkins diet does is decrease your calorie intake. If you stick to any diet that reduces calorie intake it will work. It just alerts you to watching your carb/sugar intake. But, if stuck to, the Atkins diet will by nature destroy your liver and screw up your (um, ability to go to the bathroom).

Just eat less, move more.
