Waterzooi in Garden City

I did a search on reviews and was wondering if anyone had any new comments about this place, particularly to hold a shower brunch on a saturday.

Re: Waterzooi in Garden City

I was there two years ago for a friend's birthday brunch. The food was very tasty. As were leaving, a bridal shower was setting up a shop.

I have been there for drinks and had a lot of fun...I think the food may be a bit pricey, but I am not sure...

I've been there on weekend nights when it is a bar, but I've never eaten there. Fun place.

Re: Waterzooi in Garden City

Thanks for the quick replies! I need to book a place soon. My only concern at the Waterzooi is that it is not a completely private room. They section it off with their high-backed couches. Just concerned about the lack of privacy and noise. Then again...it is a Saturday brunch so that may not be an issue.

Re: Waterzooi in Garden City

I been there a couple of times for dinner and the food is wonderful...spectacular mussels. I just found it to be a bit loud, not sure if there is a separate room (sounds like there is). But the food was wonderful.

Well victory & waterzoois have the same owners & they are right next to each other. I know that victory has closed off their room in the back when there was a shower & had peopel eat in the bar area. Waterzooi may do the same thing

Re: Waterzooi in Garden City

Great food for brunch meal, but not sure it's the right decor for a bridal shower. It's very modern, lots of metal, a little on the industrial side so not sure it's the right feel. sorry.

Great Place. Very Trendy. One of the spots to be on in Long Island.

The bar area can get crowded and loud. I do like this place alot.

Re: Waterzooi in Garden City

Great place for mussels and drinks...I don't know about a bridal shower. If you like Garden City, I had mine at the 7th street Cafe, and it was very good.

Re: Waterzooi in Garden City

The food is great at Waterzooi and the place is great. The tables with the high back chairs are great. It is not very noisy on a busy day in the dining room. I have been there for brunch and did not love it as much as the dinner or appetizers. I have a rule of thumb... if a restaurant specializes in foreign food(Belgin), they should not be serving American breakfast. I guess if you had pots of muscles(lobster sauce best by far), lobster croquets(awsome), their special fries(out of this world) and a few other select things, it would be great. But I would not do brunch food like eggs and waffles there. They have great drinks there! Hope this helps. And if you want to make a statement and be a little different then the 'normal' bride, go there. Actually when my maid of honor(who lives in Suffolk County) and one of my bridesmaids (who lives in Nassau) were planning my shower, my Nassau bridesmaids wanted to do the shower at Waterzooi and my maid of honor wanted a past restaurant in Happague... Suffolk county won and it was at the pasta restaurant, but Waterzooi would have been great(I had a Friday night shower).

I also went to a shower recently at 7th street cafe in Garden City, it was really nice as well but food not as good as Waterzooi.

Re: Waterzooi in Garden City

I believe they also have a room downstairs, we had our christmas party there one year, or maybe it was victory, but like someone said they are the same owners and both great places. I love either one!

Re: Waterzooi in Garden City

The food is great! The pots of mussels that they have are delicious (and I usually don't even like mussels), if you are in the area to check it out, you should also go to Victory which is right next door & is owned by the same people, it's also very good!

Re: Waterzooi in Garden City

I went to a baby shower at Victory not long ago. They have a seperate room in the basement that has a full bar and bathrooms. It was nice because we were completely seperate from the rest of the restaurant. They served a brunch and it was fantastic! That might be worth checking out.

i agree, however, if you choose to do it there, i'm sure it'll be wonderful. i just see it as a more 'nite time' spot - that's all!
