Re: What made you pick your date?

Prior to getting engaged, we had thought the 4th of July in 2005 would be a great time to get married, but then my brother got engaged first and chose July 8th, 2005. We were so upset but couldn't say so b/c we weren't engaged.
I had a hard time trying to choose another date because my friends and I all work for DJ companies on the weekend so I had to pick a weekday.
Then my mom suggested we pick a day this year. My fiance immediately said, lets do it Thanksgiving eve. Three of my other friends we're married on the Wed night before Thanksgiving so it just seemed logical.

Believe it or not, a few places we called were already booked, so I guess it's not as uncommon as I thought.

Re: What made you pick your date?

we thought it would be great to get married on the anniversary of when we got engaged- which would be a sat night. My mom was not having it-- she was afraid that it would snow, and people would not be able to get there, etc.

Anyway- we picked a Sat night in April- that did not effect the Jewish holidays- as there are gaps of time that jewish law does not allow you to marry- we are not religious- but it is what it is.. Then we wanted as late in April as possible- hoping for warmer weather.

Re: What made you pick your date?

So is it lame if we just say we like the sound of 4/4/04. And it fit into our timing schedule (honeymooning in New Zealand)...

Re: What made you pick your date?

Well... we changed our date a few times and each time for different reasons. Our very first date was 9/4/04 but we planned to have a destination wedding in the Carribean. Um...not a good time of year to get married in the Carribean as we soon found out so THANK GOD we nixed that idea after about 3 months of planning and changed to April 30, 2005. We picked that date like this:

May was too expensive though that was the perfect weather for us so April was the next closest, less expensive month... and we chose the 30th so we could get as close to May as possible. We thought we needed two years to save up for this wedding.

Then we changed our date because we wanted to get married in Sept. 2004 again because neither of us felt we could wait any longer until 2005. But by this point, we had several vendors booked for 4/30/05 and had to work with what they had available. We were open up to the 2nd week of October and that's what happened to work with all the vendors. Our hall had a cancellation for that day, and the rest is history.

Crazy, I know. It was quite a rollercoaster during our first 6 mos of engagement.

ETA: FH also insisted on a Saturday night
