Too bad there are no non-stops to Hawaii, that might minimize plane time
There are non-stop flights out of Newark on Continental. It's the only one I can find!!!

I think there might be one on United as well from one of the area airports. I'm not 100% though. A lot of people though seem to like to have a layover to get up and walk around a bit and stretch their legs.
FH is deadset on Hawaii as well, I just wanted to go to someplace beachy. His reasoning is that when else will we be able to justify a vacation long enough to visit Hawaii.

I don't have a choice in the matter. That was the ONLY thing about the wedding that my FH had a definite opininion on. LOL. For those of you who are going, can I ask what you paid for your airline tickets? The cheapest I found was $706 for beg. August. Is this good???

Yes that's very good. We got our tickets about 2 months ago for our october honeymoon and we paid about $730 including taxes & fees.

Re: Who is dead set on Hawaii for the HM?
I have heard Lanai is actually even more beautiful than Kuai...a lot of people I know who did Kuai found it a little boring so I'd only spend a few days there. If we go (we are torn right now bet. Hawaii and Tahiti) our itinerary would be as follows:
4 nights Big Island at Four Seasons Kona...you can see a pic of it in my profile! It's supposed to be the greatest resort...ultra pampering!
5 mights Maui in Wailea...either Kea Lani or Grand Wailea
3 nights Oahu at either Halekulani or Hilton Hawaiian Village.
If you are into partying I have heard the spot for that on Maui is Kanaapali - where the Hyatt and Westin are located. Wailea is much more upscale and laid back - not much partying going on.
I think the original poster was torn between Oahu and Maui - I don't even think they compare...I would choose Maui hands down. Oahu is more city-like. Maui is supposed to be gorgeous and so tropical!

Yes, Oahu is definitely city like. Once we left the beach, resort area we were like EW. I've never seen so much traffic in my life and I work in nyc!
We only went really to see Pearl Harbor which was a great, but very sad experience.
Don't get me wrong, we did love it there, it's Hawaii afterall..but it wasn't what I spent 12 hours on a plane for!
