Re: Why did you pick your reception place?/PICS

We picked EMJC b/c we wanted a synagogue wedding, and out of the 6 places we looked at, they offered the most for the money. I loved the look of the ballroom - it is a light purple, and the whole wedding was purple so it went along with our color scheme. DH's sister had her bat mitzvah reception there and his family was very happy with them. At each synagogue we looked at, there were some parts that we liked better than others, but EMJC had the best whole package.

Re: Why did you pick your reception place?/PICS

We picked John Anthonys on the Water in Babylon. We knew that we wanted to take advantage of (hopefully) sunny weather in July & get married overlooking the water. We both work in schools & are off summers & spend a majority of time on FH boat in the Great South Bay.

John Anthonys also holds special meaning. We went to his cousin's wedding there in 1999 when we first started hanging out. We absolutely loved it! The food was great, as well as the atmosphere. My FH also proposed to me on his boat, so John Anthonys overlooks the lagoon in the Great South Bay where we got engaged. Sorry, don't mean to get cheesy

We booked when John Anthony was in the process of switching owners, so we got a great deal for everything we are getting. They are putting $ back into the place, so it can only improve. Chefs, staff, BM, are all staying the same. All renovations should be done before Summer 2005 but they are not changing the decor. John Anthonys has the greatest Vienesse hour. That shows the little kid in me

Re: Why did you pick your reception place?/PICS

After falling in love with The Riviera and mom not liking the day available I looked at lots of other places but I had something in mind. I wanted something homey, one wedding at a time, and a beautiful outdoor ceremony location. I stumbled upon Miller Place Inn from these boards and I am eternally grateful. While it was not on the water, it was everything else that I wanted. I was flexible with the date and they gave me a saturday night for a great price.

Re: Why did you pick your reception place?/PICS

first we cancelled out anything that was definitely out of our price range, we cut out the 5 boroughs for fairly random reasons, we cut out further suffolk for distance, went down the list in wedding sites and services, listened for recommendations from friends and fam (very overwhelming) and drove out to look at different places....be sure to bargain!
then, the first thing was did they have our date, how much could they come down in price, and how did we like their room for our needs (size, etc.)...how many weddings at a time, how easy would it be for them to accomodate our food needs, etc.

good luck!

Re: Why did you pick your reception place?/PICS

We went with Leonard's. The price is perfect, the service and food are great.

Our first choice was the Crest Hollow Country Club, but they we needed us to guarantee at least 40 more guests and it was $20 more per person. Yikes!!

We picked Villa Lombardis because of their reputation for amazing food! Absolutely everyone I have spoken too said that their food is unbelievable. Also, FH was born in Italy and wanted an 'italian hall'!! LOL

When we saw Villas, we fell in love with the decor as well.

This was our initial idea of Villa's as well. We heard about the amazing food. I had never seen it in person before looking for our wedding. It is just gorgeous with the white gates and the gardens. I love the 'Villa' design. The cocktail hour room is unbelievable gorgeous. We really wanted a place that looked classy and elegant as well. This was the first place we looked at, and we ended up back there after 15 other places . . .

Re: Why did you pick your reception place?/PICS

We picked Danfords because it was on the water, had a different feel than most other wedding halls, and is an inn besides a restaurant and reception facility. We have many OOT guests so they can stay right there. Plus, the village of Port Jeff has a lot to offer the OOT-ers. I wanted to be sure that those that were visiting LI for the first time were seeing a very nice part of LI.

We picked the watermill b/c we fell in love with it the minute we walked inside. Every hall we went to see afterwards, we said 'but it's no the watermill' - that's how we knew!

We picked the Riviera b/c we also wanted something different. We also wanted somewhere that none of our friends got married.

We absolutely love the 'home' feeling of the Riviera and the view.

I also love the 'home' feeling of the Riviera. I never wanted the type of hall everyone else I know has gotten married in. I also have always dreamed about my wedding right off the water. I walked into the Riviera and knew it was made for my wedding!

Re: Why did you pick your reception place?/PICS

I only wanted someplace that was one wedding at a time at a fairly reasonable price, so that knocked out a lot of LI for us. We visited a number of halls but Milleridge was just perfect for us. The ballroom is so beautiful and understated, and the atrium is GORGEOUS. It was the only place that I was comfortable having the ceremony (since FH is Jewish and I am Catholic). Also, the incredible reputation and the fact that it's been around since 1692 swayed me - not likely they're going out of business before my wedding!

Re: Why did you pick your reception place?/PICS

We chose the Sheraton because we knew we wanted a Hotel. The room they had held only 150 people (my guest list was 120) so we knew we would fit very comfortably.

Our room was the one with the swan ice sculpture on the upper left.

You'll have to excuse me, as I'm still sick, so I have nothing else to do except watch TV and make you all read my posts! Anyway... I picked George Washington Manor b/c I'm not the type of person who likes big places. My wedding is fairly small (about 100, maybe a little under), and I wanted a small place with some history to it. GW Manor opened in 1740, so that's a sufficient amount of history, lol. I love the style of the place, it just fits me perfectly. From the moment I got engaged, I knew that's where I'd be getting married.

Good ol' George.... lol, sorry, couldnt help it. I'm cracking myself up over here.

PinkSoil you will LOVE GWM. I got married there in 1994 and althought the marriage didn't work out, it was the happies (well, now the SECOND happiest) day of my life. They were wonderful, the food was amazing, it was perfect.

I chose Raphael this time around becasue we wanted something different -- his first time was at Crest Hollow, so we wanted to get away from 'weddingy' places. And Raphael was just perfect for US.

The Crest Hollow. This is obviously, outside at the pool area. The inside is even prettier!

Re: Why did you pick your reception place?/PICS

I thought the Crest Hollow was beautiful and elegant! Also, I loved the way the decorate for Christmas and the beautiful pool and all the marble! It is such a classy, romantic place and it is in located in Woodbury, that is my favorite town. There is no where else I would rather be! I wish I had more pictures to show. I will post them after my wedding for you.

Re: Why did you pick your reception place?/PICS

We chose the Westbury Manor because we fell in love with the place as soon as we pulled up the driveway. The Westbury Manor was exactly what we were looking for. I always wanted to have our wedding in an Old Estate or Mansion and the price was exactly what we wanted to spend.

Re: Why did you pick your reception place?/PICS

We chose the Westbury Manor for multiple reasons. Mostly the food and the deal we got. However, with that being said I still wouln't have chose it if I didn't fall in love with the hall itself. Every place has its ups and downs. I wanted a place where there was only one wedding at a time, but thought food and decor was more important in the end. WM has a very old regal charm to it, and I love the darkness of it. It's perfect for a fall night wedding.
