Re: Worst Book
I know I'm late getting in on this subject... but I have to say the book I hated most was The Shipping News... I only made it about halfway through and gave up. It was soooo slooooow.

I loved it too....I agree you need to have some experience with Autism to really appreciate it. My mom tried to read it a number of times and just couldn't get into it at all

Ayn Rand 'Atlas Shrugged'
aka...abosolute torture. It was the only book that I refused to read in college and used cliffs notes to write my paper![]()
I LOVED that book!! I will say though, that it took me about 4 times to get past the first 50 pages but once I did, I couldn't put it down.
I hated Wicked, didn't finish it, and I never do that. I also hated A Wrinkle In Time (I read it in 5th grade and thought is was the worst book, it's stuck with me since as being the WORST book of all time!!!)

Re: Worst Book
I write and most of the time when I read a bad book I tolerate it, because I know how painstaking it is to put forth that much time and effort. The only two books I can say wasted my time as well as the authors for even writing were The Pearl and The Giver.

I don't know. I've worked with autistic kids and I still wasn't a fan of this book.

i LOVED lovely bones....i thought it gave great prespective on what it would be like to have your life end so traumatically and to be in heaven before you're ready. it was very very sad and horrific in the beginning though...but i loved it. :)

Re: Worst Book
I really strongly disliked 'The Corrections' by Jonathan Franzen. I thought it was awful. I pushed myself to finish it. I should have given up. What a waste of time!

I did not care for The Mermaid Chair-though I did enjoy Secret lives of bees.
I can't stand Naked, Dry, Running With Scissors, etc. I kind of liked Running With Scissors when I first read it, then I got into a rut of reading all those 'look at my crazy life and what I have lived through' and I'm just really over them.

Trainspotting. I think it was the vernacular, it was written in a British slang, and I just couldn't do it!
