Felicia, they certainly played better than they did on Saturday I get so excited when I come to LI and I know that I will be able to see the game on TV and then they screw it up!!! Only 1.5 games back. I love when the Red Sox LOSE!!!!

I hear ya.. sorry your welcome home to LI was a horrible Yankee loss. As a diehard Yankee fan , I was embarrassed on Saturday.

And forget the Mets/Yankees rivalry .. the REAL enemy is Boston.

what bothered me is how the met fans reacted when glavine came up to bat in the bottom of the 6th, when he still had the perfect game, they cheered, but it was nonchalant. No Met has EVER pitched a no hitter, let alone a perfect game, I expected a little more enthusiasm

Its the nature of this rivalry, and I love it. I EMBRACE the conflict , actually. When other fans come to Yankee stadium and root for the opposition, it makes for a great time (as long as no fights break out, of course )

Yes, but I think it's in rotten taste for a Yankee fan or a Met fan to wear the other team's jersey to a game if they're not playing each other. there's no reason for a Yankee fan to wear a Yankee jersey to Shea when the Mets are playing the Rockies. if they were playing the Yanks, then fine

Actually, I agree with you Don . I've had the misfortune of accompanying my FH to Shea Stadium on too many occasions (hey, the hot dogs are good!) But yet I didn't wear my Yankees garb.. Then again, I didn't root for the Mets, either.. I didn't cheer the Mets on, but I didn't wildly cheer when they blew it, either. Nor does Fh wear his Mets cap when we're at Yankee Stadium, though he does love to hoot and holler when the Yanks screw up. He gets lots of dirty looks, but I cannot control him

My point being that I just don't get horribly offended or bothered by the Mets fans who decide to loudly booing the Yankees at Yankee Stadium.. there's always going to be a few people rooting against the home team in every crowd, on every side of the coin.

During the Subway Series though, I'm sure we all agree that all bets are off

i had the same deal a couple of weeks ago -- i went to a mariner-yankee game at the stadium. no met garb for me and i didn't cheer one way or the other -- i just watched the game

if the mets were playing the yanks at yankee stadium -- i probably wouldn't wear my outfit because i just don't want to be bothered -- i'd cheer for the mets, but wouldn't want to bring attention to myself

it can get pretty ugly with fans.. even people who you REALLY like (but are on different sides of the fence when it comes to the Mets/Yankees debate) can annoy the living cr@p out of ya.. and lead to an uncomfortable mood sometimes.

Three examples--

1.) Out at Penn Station, a Yankee fan was giving it to the big time Mets.. a guy in a Mets jersey comes over a totally popped the guy right in the mouth.

VERY BAD -- even if you HATE the other team.

2.) At a Wedding, a Cubs fan and a Yankee fan get into a semi-heated debate.

INTERESTING -- Something other than Mets or Red Sox.. it was fun to watch.

3.) Out at Interleague at Shea Mets/Yanks.. there was a girl who started a fight between her bf and another guy after the game. She was totally responsible for it.

VERY DUMB -- nuff said.

The Red Sox are definitely the ENEMY I never root against the Mets. I root for the Yankees when they play the Mets, but tahts different. The only time I root against a team who is not playing the Yankees is when I am watching the Red Sox play against anyone.

I go to Camden Yards all the time, especially when the Yankees are in town, and I do go there in my Yankee gear and root for my team. I don't think that I would wear Yankee gear to a Mets game if they weren't playing. That seems strange.

I do enjoy harassing Met fans, though, especially on LIW.

as a Met fan, I'm not fond of Mike Piazza either

But, I always root againts the Yanks, no matter who they are playing, even the Red Sox. In fact, the Mets are my #1 team. The Sox are my #2 team, because I love to see them beat up on the Yanks.

I HATE Derek Jeter and this slump he's going through is very amusing

The upcoming Phillies / Marlins series will say a lot about the Mets.

There is also talk that Jose Reyes will return by Friday for the Marlins weekend series. If the Mets can get HEALTHY... I can definitely see them winning the NL east. To this date they haven't played with a full roster yet (lost their #2 & #3 hitters for most of the season, now lost their Ace pitcher for a few starts).

What would the Yankees have done if lets say Jeter and A-Rod were on the shelf injured for two months? Oh wait.... probably not much different since Jeter ain't doing much to help the team in the first place.
