I fell in love with my dress as soon as I put it on. I think I found it after trying on about 30 dreses or so. I was definitely looking for something unique and it just took time and exploration. I went to about seven different bridal salons and checked out lots of sample sales as well. You have plenty of time to find a dress. Good luck!

I felt the same way you do- all the dresses I tried on started to look the same, but I didn't want to look like everyone else! The dress I bought is a knock off from Lazaro, but I didn't mind the price difference! I know they also sell it with a light blue sash, which I think is nice as well :)

I know what you mean. I didn't like much of what I tried on either. I'm not really into wearing a ballgown. I don't know if my dress is considered unique but it's a sheath which was different from what any of my freinds have worn so I decided to give it a try.

I don't think that you need to have a huge budget in order to get something unique. If you have a good consultant helping you, and you tell her what you're looking for, she should be able to find 'different' things at any budget. My dress was not expensive, and I think it's very unique: the train comes from the waist; it's not a traditional train, it's a tulle overskirt; and the dress itself is very narrow.Good luck finding something you love!

Re: Your dress - is it more unique than the 'typical' wedding gown?
I think my dress is different. I love it, but I also regret not looking around more. I have always loved Reem Acra and Amsale dresses, but thought they were too expensive, but my dress wound up costing just as much! So, I guess I just regret looking around more- but I really love my dress, and got the 'it's the one' feeling when I tried it on. But i wonder if I could have gotten that feeling from another dress.....

Re: Your dress - is it more unique than the 'typical' wedding gown?
I feel the color of my gown made it unique. It was champagne/light pink, not white or ivory and had gold beading throughout:
I also had a capelet with beading that went over my shoulders and draped towards the back and I have yet to see a bride with that.

Re: Your dress - is it more unique than the 'typical' wedding gown?
Jenny- I love that dress- the beading is gorgeous.I went to a wedding where the bride wore pink.
It was a knock off of a red carpet gown.
And she wore silver birks & a pick scarf on her headthat was different.
I'm with Oct2004bride--I'd say my dress is not unique. But it isn't strapless, which is what most of what I saw was.
I would have loved to wear a sheath if I had the body for it.

Re: Your dress - is it more unique than the 'typical' wedding gown?
I definately understand what you are talking about. I had the same problem looking for dresses, they all look so similar! So, I went to Israel (visiting my brother) and ended up buying a dress there. Now my dress is COMPLETELY different from all, which makes me really worried. Now I am afraid its TOO different, and will be ugly
But I am still looking forward to wearing it!

My mom and grandma made this, so I LOVE it. It's based on a Reem Arca I found in a magazine.

Re: Your dress - is it more unique than the 'typical' wedding gown?
I don't know what you mean by 'typical'But I can tell you I went through the same thing !! I also had a picture in my head, and when I tried my 'dream dress' on my mom and I almost died laughing ! I looked AWFUL !!!
This is my gown - My FSIL keeps telling me it's 'French looking' whatever that means !!
But it will have the big french bustle that I love !!
Good Luck !!
