Affordable Kosher wedding? Sandcastle?

Has anyone ever been to a Kosher wedding at the Sandcastle?

Can anyone recommend where I can have an affordable kosher wedding?

Re: Affordable Kosher wedding? Sandcastle?

I looked at a lot of kosher catering halls on LI. Crest Hollow and East Meadow JC were the most reasonable. I personally like East Meadow better :)

Re: Affordable Kosher wedding? Sandcastle?

Hey! I'm sort of in the same boat, kosher catering is soo expensive! Look into some of the temples on LI that are supposedly beautiful, like Temple Israel, Temple Beth-El or Woodbury Jewish Center. Morrell's is the kosher caterer they use I believe, or JEM. Also, are you looking for glatt kosher or can you be a little lenient, because we are thinking of doing what we can 'strict kosher style' where there is obviously NO shellfish or pork, and our meat and dairy have to be served in separate courses and can't be on the table at the same time.

Just some thoughts!

Also, quick question for you: are you using a wedding planner? I'm having trouble finding someone I feel is comfortable coordinating a Jewish wedding. Thanks!

Re: Affordable Kosher wedding? Sandcastle?

I've heard great things about kosher weddings at Crest Hollow, Leonards of Great Neck, and Temple Judea of Massapequa. I can't vouch for Huntington Hilton but I also know of a Kosher wedding planned there. Additionally, some temples have catering hall facilities kind of attached: Great Neck Synagogue, Shelter Rock Jewish Center, and Sephardic Temple.

This was all information for Glatt Kosher.

Other Kosher halls: Harbor Club (Huntington), Ariana Waterfall, Beach Club Estate, Bridgeview Yacht Club, Coral House, Giorgio's, Glen Cove Mansion, Hyatt Regency (Happauge), Metropolitan, Patchogue Manor, Roslyn Claremont Hotel, Thatched Cottage, The Old Field Club, The Royalton, The Woodlands, Villa Marcello, Waterview Club, and Woodbury CC.

HTH!

Re: Affordable Kosher wedding? Sandcastle?

The Morrell facilities are gorgeous and I've heard the food is supposed to be best. They were also the most expensive. I think they are kosher and it is more money if you need Glatt.

Other nice synagogues that we saw were Shelter Rock Jewish Center (Glatt), Temple Sinai in Rosyln (gorgeous temple but it was kosher style and I needed Glatt), Sephardic Temple (we loved it but we thought the ballroom was a little too big for our party). Also saw Oceanside JC which wasn't Glatt, but we weren't crazy on the ballroom.

Crest Hollow was the only Glatt kosher catering hall that we went to. Prices were very reasonable, but we didn't feel it was the place for us. We liked the catering manager best at East Meadow and felt the price was great for what was included.

Oh yeah forgot to mention the Royalton- we loved it and it's Glatt kosher. I would love to get married there but too expensive for us.

Re: Affordable Kosher wedding? Sandcastle?

The doctor I work for is kosher and all her daughters weddings were at the Crest Hollow. They have a seperate kosher kitchen that has a alarm on it and no one can get in with a rabbi. Not jewish so that clearly didn't matter to me but I know she said that is a big deal.

Happy Hunting

Re: Affordable Kosher wedding? Sandcastle?

Sands does have kosher catering. I'm having a glatt kosher wedding at Carlyle on the Green, they have a seperate kosher kitchen.

Temples are usually the most reasonable for kosher catering. Temple Judea in Searington is beautiful and is kosher and so is Shelter Rock Jewish Center. Also look into The Royalton in Roslyn, they use the same kosher caterer as Jericho Jewish Center.
