Anyone opinion about food at Astoria World Manor?
I was quoted at Astoria World Manor $ 60pp for Saturday afternoon in January and we think price is OK.But I am troubled since friend of mine sister in law had an event over there and she said that food was tasteless and bland.
Any feedback on this topic?

Re: Anyone opinion about food at Astoria World Manor?
you should look into Caffe on the green in bayside or Douglaston Manor. both are probably more upscale than AWM and should be reasonably priced esp for January afternoon.

The place has been horrible for years.I grew up in Astoria and no one I knew would ever have a party there.
You can find other nicer places for that price range.
Do you want to stay in that area or venture out into Nassau, or upstate in to Westchester ?

Hi!! Another Astoria girl here, also NOT a fan of the place or the food. Its 'ok' for a dinner dance or social gathering, but I'd avoid it for a wedding; there are places that have better service/value for the $$.And its really on the 'gaudy' side in my opinion, it hurts my eyes.

If you are worried, try looking into a few other places. I think you will get similar quotes for the same time from a lot of places!

The Water's Edge in LIC is spectacular, I've gone to evening weddings there, but I'm sure there's a lower rate for daytime affairs?

another astoria girl here, well i moved now but grew up in astoria and still consider myself an astoria girl. Sorry to say but its very true. Those of us who live in astoria dont have events there, and you do hear alot of bad reviews about the food.
I do agree with what someone else posted above to check out cafe on the green in bayside, douglaston, also terrace on the park if you want to stay in queens, also watersedge is amazing which is very close to astoria but i do know it can get pricey, theres other locations in LIC such as the foundry the metropolitan building but again can be a bit pricey
Astoria is known to have many great restaurants, lounges, clubs, cafes and so on but unfortunately not known for their catering halls.

was at a GAA dinner dance there in February and the food was really bad. Nothing was hot and everything was really overcooked.

Re: Anyone opinion about food at Astoria World Manor?
To be honest....I'm not a fan either. I looked there while searching for a RH. I thought it smelled kinda musty and really needed updating. Also we want to have our ceremony onsite and we really didn't care for there indoor chapel. For that price there are sooo many other options. I was looking at Queens to but went with Leonard's of Great Neck on the Queens/Nassau border. It's still very easy for people to get to and I'm paying a little less than that for Sunday night of Memorial Day weekend. I have some pics in my album of Leonard's is your interested. Good luck with your search!!!
