Cheap Mansion on Long Island for wedding
Hi. Someone I work with told me they went to a friend's wedding in Long Island. It was in a Mansion I believe owned by the Federal, State or Parks department and that it was extremely cheap to use because it was on federal property???? He couldn't remember the name though. Does anyone know about this place or a possible name??? Thanks

Re: Cheap Mansion on Long Island for wedding
Have you tried Old Westbury Gardens? They have a mansion there.....or the De Seversky center at NYIT. Could also have been the Vanderbilt mansion in Oakdale or Centerport. Those are the only state owned that I can think of. NYIT is not state owned, but it is an old mansion too.

Re: Cheap Mansion on Long Island for wedding
De Seversky center: $8,000 site fee before cateringVanderbilt mansion in Oakdale is owned by Dowling College and is now a Lessing site, I believe the site fee prior to catering is $4000 (I booked under lovin oven so I am just guessing based on their other mansion site fees)
Vanderbilt Mansion in Centerport is hosted by Lessing and has a $4000 site fee prior to catering
I don't think Old Westbury gardens hosts weddings/events anymore.
I wanted a mansion wedding and didn't find any that were state owned without a site fee that could knock your socks off.
Good luck, I hope your find one!

Hi, the Bourne mansion site fee is not the same as Oheka. Its $3950 all year round at the Bourne.
Oheka is more than double that.
Hope this helps!

Re: Cheap Mansion on Long Island for wedding
hi. it's probably coindre hall. it's owned by suffolk county, is affordable and is gorgeous (i'm a bit biased b/c i got married there earlier this month). the site fee is a bit pricey ($1950 for friday night and $2950 for saturday night). but if you work with the right caterer you can get the price per head down so that the total cost is less than a reception hall. there are three caterers that work out of there: lessings, phillip stone and andrews.lessings is expensive and cookie cutter (they don't let you customize menu)
andrews - don't use them. we used them and the event manager was horrible to work with and almost ruined my day (more about this in my review but i'll just state here that he didn't plan for a cake cutting!!)
phillip stone - another bride used them and LOVED them. here's there contact info:

Re: Cheap Mansion on Long Island for wedding
It might have been West Sayville Country Club. It's inexpensive, owned by the state, and a mansion. Lessing's does the catering there as well as TimberPoint, Coindre Hall, and Bourne Mansion.Bourne and Coindre Hall both have sight fees, so I wouldn't consider them cheap.

Re: Cheap Mansion on Long Island for wedding
Interesting....I had no idea that you could rent these places independently.I looked into Coindre Hall and Timberpoint through Lessings. Coindre Hall was expensive, at least for me.
Just remember that if you do decide to use any of the places listed you are still paying for all the catering pp.
I know some people who actually used the Brentwood CC. I personally havent checked it out yet but I heard its really great and you get a lot for your $$$$.
Let us know how it goes.
I too started to plan a backyard wedding to keep the cost down but it actually turned out to be even more expensive then just using a RH.
Im trying to keep my costs down too. I only have about 100 people on my guest list (Thats including children) and some RH want 100 min.
I'm looking at a few places for a Sat. or Sun afternoon wedding.
We looked at the Milleridge Inn/Carriage house, Thatched Cottage and we're going to look at Three Village Inn this Sat.
Good Luck!

Re: Cheap Mansion on Long Island for wedding
i should clarify that we were able to do coindre hall for about $100/pp including site fee, alcohol, coat check and catering. the trick is to go with a caterer that will allow you to customize the menu instead of going for a standard package. in addition, we brought in our own alcohol which not only saved us money, but we were able to have unopened bottles returned for credit.

Re: Cheap Mansion on Long Island for wedding
I am thinking of booking the Bourne Mansion and am wondering if you can tell me how the wedding was from a guest's perspective....Do you think it's worth all the money? It is quite expensive....How was the food? The service? Was the ceramony on-site? Any info you have would be very much appreciated....In advance, thank you....

Re: Cheap Mansion on Long Island for wedding
What about the Woodlands in woodbury. Its a gorgeous mansion run by the Sing Sing corporation/catering. The food is phenomenal and the catering is done there! There is no site fee. I got quoted in the winter on a Sunday 105 pp .
