Filet Mignon vs. Prime Rib

My RH wants 25 extra pp for filet mignon. Do you think that when people don't see filet mignon they think less of the wedding ?????

THANKS :)

Re: Filet Mignon vs. Prime Rib

We are having prime rib. For us, we think prime rib is actually a better cut of meat and it does not get as dry and rubbery as a piece of filet mignon can.

good luck!

and 25 extra a person is ridiculous!!!!! most places give you choices and it is one price.

Re: Filet Mignon vs. Prime Rib

I would definately not pay $25 extra that is crazy. Prime Rib is just fine. Also you don't know what people are going to eat anyway.

My RH has filet mignon as an entree at no extra cost.

I don't think it is needed! I love Prime Rib. We are only having Filet Mignon because it is included!!!

Re: Filet Mignon vs. Prime Rib

I agree with the other posters and was actually pretty much in the same situation as you. In order to get a price we could afford, we are doing a 'value menu' which cuts things like fillet mignon, lamp chops and duck I think. The only thing I was really concerned about cutting was the fillet but I couldn't see spending an extra $5,000 so that people could have the option of ordering it.

$25 extra per person is ridiculous. Prime rib has more flavor anyway :)

Re: Filet Mignon vs. Prime Rib

$25 extra is so not worth it. I really don't think people will think less of your wedding for not having filet mignon on the menu - they're coming for you, not for the meat

Re: Filet Mignon vs. Prime Rib

Wow that is crazy! I know when I looked out in Montauk and the Hamptons most places charged that much extra for the filet, which is part of the reason we didn't choose any of those places bc they were so overpriced.

If the prime rib is included, I would use that. That extra $25 per person could be put towards other important things you need to make your wedding beautiful.

Re: Filet Mignon vs. Prime Rib

Wow!!! I agree with everyone here that that is
craz-y. I would go with the prime rib...don't worry, no one will think less of your wedding if they see prime rib and not filet mignon! Put it this way, they won't think more of your wedding if you do pay extra for it!!

Re: Filet Mignon vs. Prime Rib

that is absolutely insane to pay an addition $25pp. I think Prime Rib is just fine, I definitely wouldn't spend that much more pp & I wouldn't look down on anyone's wedding who had PR instead of FM.

Re: Filet Mignon vs. Prime Rib

$25 extra is rediculous. I dont think the guests are going to think less of the wedding with Prime Rib on the menu. I've been to weddings where I've ahd Filet Mignon and its aweful and Prime Rib and its amazing and I wouldnt have even questioned the menu with the wedding experience. I think if the food tastes good and your happy with it just go for it.

We had the same choice and everyone i talked to said to go for NY strip since its not something you always see at weddings.. I wouldnt waste the extra money.

I like prime rib better. We're only getting filet because it's included. I'd just got for the prime rib if they are going to charge you extra!

Re: Filet Mignon vs. Prime Rib

IMO the filet mignon is not worth the extra money. Prime Rib is just as good!
