Non- Cheesy Wedding vows...
Ok... I am not saying wedding vows are cheesy but I just don't want anything over the top. FH and I are goof balls and would probably start laughing or something... We always laugh at very inappropriate times... its bad.Ok. So I don't want the traditional vows.... but we discussed writing our own and he came up with ridiculous things and wanted to write my vows and say things such as I promise not to stay on the internet for a long time, I promise to have sex with my husband 5 times a day ..... so you see what I am saying. It wasn't really working. I don't mind it being a little silly but I don't want it to be a joke either.... I could do it but my family would die. Its bad enough we are not getting married in a church...or that I am marrying outside my faith... yikes!
OK.... SORRY so long!!! You get what I am saying... Does anyone have any vows that are not traditional nor super cheesy????
Please share!!!!
Thank you in Advance!!!

Re: Non- Cheesy Wedding vows...
My FH and I were talking about this the other night watching a wedding show, and we were like 'everyone who tries to get away from the old standard gets crazy!!!' It's almost like it's impossible to be simpler than the short, sweet, traditional stuff, and if you write them yourselves, you will get personal and emotional, and we thought 'we'll cry if we do that!!!!' So, while I understand you not wanting 'traditional' every wedding I've been to or watched where the couple wrote their own actually came out cheesier than the plain old 'better or worse, in sickness and in health, etc.' Besides, when you think about it, the traditional vows really break it down to the 'nitty gritty' of what you're promising to do for the rest of your life!!! Nowadays, i think the old school is the least cheesy there is, because it's so 'to the point.'Good luck, because if you come up with a non-traditional but not cheesy vow, I want to hear it, and copy it!!!!
Oh, and even my silliest friends didn't laugh during their vows . . . . . I'm afraid of CRYING more than laughing, even though we're pretty silly most of the time!! I cry watching STRANGERS get married, hahahahaha.

True... I will def cry A lot.... but if he starts going off about sex and the internet... I will start on one of my giggle attacks... and then its over... I wont be able to stop thats the problem. It has happened at a work meeting I laughed for 20 mins straight... I had to excuse myself to get myself under control.. its bad...LOL!I know what you mean about traditional vs write your own vows...
I am going to do some research and see what I can find. I will share.....

Re: Non- Cheesy Wedding vows...
Hmmm... I found this one... not sure though...I (Name), take you (Name), to be my wedded (husband/wife)
knowing in my heart that you will always be
my best friend and my one true love.
I promise to support and inspire you;
To delight in your happiness
And comfort you in times of adversity;
To create with you a home full of happiness,
good food,
passion and laughter.
To share adventures in life, love and family
through all the days we have before us.

Re: Non- Cheesy Wedding vows...
Funny I was just talking to a friend about this.. She just emailed me her vows from her wedding.. Kinda long (In my opinion) but very nice. She printed it up on a scroll and read it..I Julie, choose you Gary as my best friend and my love for life. Our miracle lies in the path we have chosen together. I enter into this marriage promising you my deepest love, my fullest devotion, my tenderest care, through the pressures of the present and the uncertainties of the future, I promise to be faithful to you. I promise to love you, to commit to you, and support you. I pledge to respect your unique talents and abilities, to lend you strength for all of your dreams. You have shown me what love is and for that I thank you. You are everything I need and at this moment I know all of my prayers have been answered and that all of my dreams have come true. Because of you, I laugh, I smile, I dare to dream again. I praise God for you Gary: for all of your love and constant friendship. I know that our love is heaven sent and I promise to be here for ever and always. From this day forward, you shall not walk alone. My heart will be your shelter and my arms will be your home. I look forward with great joy to spending the rest of my life with you, caring for you, nurturing you, being there for you in all life has for us, and I vow to be true and faithful for as long as we both shall live. As I have given you my hand to hold, I give you my life to keep.

What hands poem???

These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day as your promise to love each other today tomorrow and forever. These are the hands that will work alongside yours as together you build your future. These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years,
and with the slightest touch will comfort you like no other. These are the hands that will hold you when fear and grief wracks your mind. These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes, tears of sorrow and tears of joy. These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it. And lastly, these are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch.
John and Jane you are about to make promises to one another. Today, these vows are beautiful words representing even more beautiful intentions. But you will find that as you live these vows over the years, investing your time and your love and your commitment to one another, the happy times of your life will be twice as joyous, because there will be someone by your side to help carry the burden.
