Open Toe Shoe Etiquette
Hey Girls - I am supposed to be in a wedding in December and I just have a quick question on open toe shoe etiquette. Can you wear pantyhose with open toe shoes as long as they don't have the seam at the toe??It will obviously be cold and the shoes are mostly closed with the exception of the toe. (For any of you who have been to Zara lately, they are the black open toe stiletto's part patent leather, part material).
Since they are black, I'd like to wear them again with suits, etc. for work and I'm curious if I can wear them with pantyhose during the winter (and for the wedding). Thanks
- Laura

Re: Open Toe Shoe Etiquette
I've never been a fan of the look personally (which s*cks because I LOVE peep toe shoes, aaaargh). I think it can be pulled off in a more funky/casual environment, but wouldn't do it for a formal occasion... I would either wear the open toe with no hose or go for a closed toe shoe, IMHO.

i totally agree. I say no as well.
someone who came to my wedding wore a back dress with black hose & black peeptoe shoes. well, she ended up getting a tear right on her toe which turned into a hole on her toe! When looking at her all I could fucus on was her white toe popping out of the hole in her stocking-- not pretty.

i've seen pantyhose before that have a thong toe for just that reason. i'm not sure where, but i know they exist.

I wore the 'toe-thong' pantyhose when I was a BM for my brother's wedding. I got it at JCPenney, which actually has a really good selection of hosiery. No one knew I was wearing pantyhose because the skirt was floor-length (and I assume your dress is, too), and the only thing that really showed was the front of the foot, but thanks to the 'toe-thong' it worked brilliantly!

I agree... pantyhose with open toe shoes is a big NO NO! It might be OK if it was a pair with the thong-toe so the actual toes arent covered...
I only wear pantyhose to work (law firm) when I wear skirt suits... otherwise it's a no go

I agree. pantyhose w/open-toes is ALWAYS a no-no as far as I'm concerned, no matter how many different ways you play it.
I also don't like pantyhose at all, i can't even remember the last time I wore them, maybe my prom???? My wedding is in March and I'm not wearing stockings and wearing open-toe strappies.....it's not like you're going to be walking around in the snow. You're feet and legs will be fine w/o stockings. You'll be inside for majority of your day.

I would say do whatever is more comfortable. They do sell those pantyhose thong things where the fabric goes in between your big toe.

Okay, I'm gonna go against the grain here and say this. You're wearing a full length gown. Its December. Inside. Outside. You're freakin' COLD!!. They make SEAMLESS pantyhose for a reason. If the hose is the correct color match to your skin tone, no one.....and i mean no one, is gonna be staring at the 2 inches of peep toe space on your wedding day and think 'my God, this woman has worn seamless pantyhose in December with her wedding shoes. someone call the fashion police'
So, I say, of course its okay. -)
Why freeze your *** off? Be comfortable! Its your day. They're gonna be looking at YOU anyway and how beautiful you are, not your pantyhose. Trust me on this girl. I went through 12 years of Catholic School..... I know ALL ABOUT pantyhose! LOL

Re: Open Toe Shoe Etiquette
No, you can't do it. Just buy the 'Hose Without Toes' they are the same as regular stockings, but they have like a 'thong' type thing that goes around your big toe, so that your toes don't have the hose on them.
