Pennies under your carpeting???

Funny thing... and we've never heard of it..

It must be some good luck thing, or superstition thing...

As John has been ripping up carpeting throughout the house, he's been finding pennies all over the place!

Has anyone heard of this or has anyone does this? Is it for good luck?

Yes...I have!! Its a OLD Italian tradition to put pennies under the carpets for wealth. When my parents lived in an apt in Howard Beach, thier land lady came up and placed pennies around the edges of the room before the carpet was laid.

ARe you putting more carpets down? If so, I would keep the same pennies there!

Nope, we're getting rid of all carpeting..

I gotta ask my mom if she ever heard of it!

Yes for Italians it is good luck...
AND
I know back in the day Irish carpenters used to put pennies in the walls for good luck.

The family that moved out was Irish, so maybe the pennies under the rugs was also an Irish tradition?

Yeah, I am Italian too!! Never heard of it either!! Wish I would have known before I put down my carpeting...I could use some wealth
