processional songs (Catholic church wedding)

What songs did you use for your processional -- seating of the mothers, bridal party, and bride?

I'm torn. I'm not anti- 'Here Comes the Bride' but I'd like to hear other ideas. I like both Trumpet Voluntary and Canon in D, too. I want a different song for the bridal party than for me, obviously, with the BP's music possibly softer / mellower than mine.

Thoughts?

Any other suggestions for ceremony songs would be great. Ave Maria is already on the list.

ETA - one thought I had was Canon in D for the Bridal Party and then Trumpet Voluntary for me.

Re: processional songs (Catholic church wedding)

I used Schubert's 'Ave Maria' for Mom, Bach's 'Sheep May Safely Graze' for the Bridal Party and 'Jeus, Joy of Man's Desiring' for me.

Re: processional songs (Catholic church wedding)

I am having Canon in D for the main processional (mothers, BM's). And either Trumpet Tune (my organist said a lot of people mistake this for Trumpet Voluntary) or The Bridal March (here comes the bride) for me.

I am torn on the one for me because I feel like canon in D and the trumpet tune are not different ENOUGH for people to recognize they are different songs, you know?

Maybe I'll do Trumpet Tune for mothers, Canon in D for BM's, and Bridal March for me.

Re: processional songs (Catholic church wedding)

I did Canon in D for mothers/ BP

Here Comes the Bride for me.

And the organist broke into Trumpets Voluntary at the **close** of the ceremony.

I LOVED it. It gave a real dramatic, finale feel as I walked back UP the aisle with DH!

(Plus, I'd always dreamed of walking down the aisle to Here Comes the Bride)

I am having cannon in d for BM and I am walking down to Trumpet Voluntary. When my mom and I went and listened to the music she started crying when she heard it. We both new then that I was going to come into Trumpet Voluntary.

Re: processional songs (Catholic church wedding)

I'm using Sleepers Awake for BP (Bach) - you can listen to it on wed alert.com (That's how I chose it - I also like Sheep May Safely Graze. I'm kinda tired of the usual choices so I went with this one)
and I'm coming down to Trumpet Voluntary.

Re: processional songs (Catholic church wedding)

So you can use here comes the bride? I thought they didn't allow that song in catholic church. I would love it if I could use that!
