Snapper Inn info please

Hi Ladies this is my first post so be nice :)

My fiancee and I want something VERY laid back and very non traditional. No church, no first dances or speaches, no wedding party. I have been looking for something VERY affordable on the water that can accommodate a small wedding (maybe 50 guests) and also host the ceremony which would be very short and casual as well.

We have an 18 month old daughter and the idea of spending what would equate to her college education on a wedding is not an option.

Does anyone have an idea of recent prices at the snapper inn for a friday saturday or sunday in may or june?

Any other suggestions as well? We are so open... we just want to be married and then spend a couple hours hanging with friends and family... Long Island is just SO expensive...

I don't know about the Snapper Inn but I heard the Irish Coffee Pub in East Islip is very affordable and the food is delish.

Re: Snapper Inn info please

I've been talking to the Pavilion at Sunken Meadow which is right on the beach. I haven't booked anything yet, but they have four hour party packages that start at $50 for buffet + beer & wine. It's $10pp additional for open bar. It's a Lessings venue.

If you go to their website, find the Pavilion and then click on Private Parties, you'll find the menus. They have a lobster bake, a luau and some other good things.

FM me if you want more info. Just don't take August 13th!!!

Re: Snapper Inn info please

We were quoted $115 for a sat. day in the Pavillion on their most 'elaborate' wedding package which is really not much compared to what other RH's offer. I think they just nail you for the view. Good luck!

Re: Snapper Inn info please

I was also looking for something similiar...

Snapper Inn is definitly not the cheapest option, but it is a really nice place for a casual wedding. Ask about Sunday prices... I didn't know this when I first started looking but most places will not take 50 guests for a Saturday evening wedding.

Some other places that I contacted that were cheaper and waterfront with ceremony on site:

The Bayview House - 65 guest minimum for a Sunday. Average price for the summer is $80 pp.

Timber Point Country Club - $71 pp for a Sunday

Thatched Cottage - 50 guest minimum $85 for a Sunday afternoon

Other places you may be interested by the water and with low minimums: Harbor Club, Riverview, Danford's, Smithtown Landing, West Sayville Country Club. I don't know anything about prices, but have heard these venues are affordable.

Good luck! I am in the same boat as you--and it hasn't been easy. Especially since I don't especially like the catering hall atmosphere.

Re: Snapper Inn info please

I think Snapper Inn would be really good for what you're looking for. They host smaller weddings at the Lawn Bar, right on the water. We were quoted in the 70's for a Saturday night. The only issue is that it is totally outside (just a tent) but you should definitely check it out. Very pretty and casual.

Re: Snapper Inn info please

We actually went to the Snapper Inn for dinner last night and there was a wedding going on. It looked beautiful! Even with the rain.

We got some info on weddings but not actual pricing.

BUT while sitting eating dinner and discussing wedding stuff, FH informs me that Chateau La Mer is one of his clients at work and he could talk to them about a 'deal' ...

You would think he would of thought of that awhile ago?

Thanks for all the replies ladies!!!

Re: Snapper Inn info please

I too am having a small wedding. I have looked there and down the road at Riverview, but ended up booking at west sayville country club for a June 2010 wedding. It is right on the great south bay.
I have the wedding info at work-Ill look for it tomorrow and send it over to you. FM me tomorrow if you don't hear back from me by the afternoon
What I didn't like about that place was that your party is in a private room but the restaurant is still open and there's only a divider of not covered up windows.
In a post above someone mentioned the pavilion- I looked at that it is beautiful but I didn't get a min of 50 or a price anywhere like what she had mentioned. prob double that without taxes. The woman on the phone said something diff and when we got there it was a more min.
