Vanderbuilt mansion at dowling college?

Anyone getting married or go to a wedding at the Vanderbuilt Mansion at Dowling college in oakdale? If so what did you think?

I didn't visit it. It looks beautiful. For some reason I heard there wasen't a dance floor. Is that true?

I went to go look at the Vanderbilt, and although it is very pretty, the room is shaped like a T. The dance floor is down the center of the room in the middle of the tables and from what I understood, you wouldn't be able to see the DJ because he would be off in the corner of the 'T'. Plus, I did not like that there is just an office for the bridal suite, and I am not sure if there is a private bathroom. Students can walk around there, since it is part of the school. You also must book around the school's schedule. I also think that the room could MAX hold only 100. They claimed I think 150. NO WAY. I would look at this place if my wedding was small. We chose the Bourne instead because it's much more private and MUCH bigger. JMO.

we elected not to book the vanderbuilt because of the restrictions. the minimum requirement (125) and saturday 7:00 pm start (they do not have saturday afternoons available) proved too inflexible for our needs.

it is a gorgeous place and i would suggest attempting to plan around the sunset there

The first pic is the front (it's from their website) the second is one of the coctail hour rooms, the third is the driveway you drive down to get to the mansion. Let me see if I have more........

Wow that is so beautiful....Expensive? I LOVE ATLANTICA in west hampton....I cant wait to start all this stuff...its so exciting!!!!

It's about the same as Atlantica, maybe a little more, but you get WAY MORE for your money at the Bourne. It's actually right up the road from the Vanderbilt Mansion.
