a question about cap sleeves for former and future brides

My dress has cap sleeves and I'm afraid they are going to be very uncomfortable. At my first fitting they were either too tight (couldn't lift my arms) or too loose (they kept falling down). I love the look but am not sure if they're practical. Could any brides who had or have cap sleeves let me know what their experience has been with them?

TIA!!

Mine comes with them also, but I am having them removed. I think I won't be able to move the way I want to if I kept them on there.

I think cap sleeves are so pretty but honestly if youre uncomfortable or worried about them- REMOVE THEM! You will be in that dress ALLLLLLL day, the last thing you need to worry about is not being able to lift up your arms or picking up thsoe sleeves constantly!!!!

Re: a question about cap sleeves for former and future brides

cap sleeves = badness

can't move in them - it's so silly that so many dresses have them. If you like the dress I suggest having them removed. While it may be a nice look you just can't raise your arms in the dress if the sleeve fits correctly. I know it s ucks but what can you do?

kittythestray had a GORGEOUS pronovias dress that had a kind of sleeve thing and 4 days before the wedding she had it altered so that she could actually put her arms around her husband.

Re: a question about cap sleeves for former and future brides

I had the option of ordering the cap sleeves w/my dress but chose not to because I feel they would be annoying as I try to lift my arm or dance. Plus, I liked the look without them. You could always put them on with velcro and remove them during the day if they annoy you.

I've actually thought of doing that! I just love how they look but I can't spend the whole day not being able to move! I'm going to call the salon and ask the seamstress if thats at all possible. Thanks ladies!!

ETA: my voice teacher also mentioned the idea of putting elastic on the back so I'd have more range of motion...I wonder if that could work

I love the look of cap sleeves. I think they're romantic.

I think you can go slightly loose on them so that you can move, then add toupee tape or pageant tape to keep them in place!!

cap sleeves here!!!!
I know what your saying, but i love my dress soooo much that i dont care how uncomfortable i am!!!!
I asked the lady whos doing all my fittings & stuff if she could loosen them just a bit to allow me to move just a little better if needed and she said yes, so I'll have to wait and see how the dress actually fits first!!!

But i just wont lift my arms that day!!!!!!
oh well!!!!

Great idea, but not velcro! Unless its some diesel sh!t! I would maybe ask the seamstress to attach it with a hook & eye so you can remove it as you please
