Any Seventh-Day Adventists doing a Reception? How are you putting it together?
I have gone to one Seventh Day Adventist Reception that was similar to a banquet, everyone sat and ate, while there was a piano player playing music in the background. I do not remember anything else about that time. It was 3 years ago..
I need ideas on how to put my reception together. I am thinking of games because everyone would interact. But it cannot involve money, such as gambling. There has to be something fun to throw in to the reception...

Re: Any Seventh-Day Adventists doing a Reception? How are you putting it together?
My mother is Seventh-day Adventist but my father is Catholic. I was born and raised in the Catholic church but on Saturdays went with my mom to her church from time to time when she converted. FH is Baptist and I am Christian so we decided to get married in a Baptist church, which my Mom has finally okay'd! I have gone to a few Adventist weddings, one of them were my cousin's (he married an Adventist woman). They had their reception on long island and had a DJ but no dancing. The DJ played soft music. Another Adventist couple at their wedding also had a DJ but no dancing and showed pictures throughout their reception when they were dating. It has been so long since I've been to one so I can't remember much details. Maybe you can incorporate games or activities. HTH!

Thanks, for your replies, hopefully I could put something together for the reception so it's not a boring one!Seventh-Day adventists are bible believing, Christ centered christians. What makes them unique from other religions is that they worship on Saturday, sundown to sundown, similar to the Jewish religion. Health is also so very important, because the body is the temple of God. Therefore, alcohol, smoking and unhealthy food choices can harm the temple. Many are vegetarian and very health conscious.
I also found this thread helpful! I'm still searching around...

I think you may be confusing what that couple did 3 years ago with what you believe is a Seven Day Adventist reception.
I know a few Seven Day Adventist and several were at our wedding. It was a traditional sit down reception with dancing. They can eat, have non-alcoholic drinks and dance just like everyone else. There is nothing in that religion, not that I am aware of at least, that would prevent them from attending a traditional wedding and reception. And trust me, we checked. We had some Jehoavh's Witnesses in attendance so we altered some things to accomodate them.
If you are just looking for ideas for games for your reception then maybe you should change the title of your post since many people may not read it because most do not know Seven Day Adventist
ETA - none of the Adventist I know are vegetarians but we did have a veggie entree for the reception.

Thanks for the fYI!
I can try to change the post and see what turns up. Or just add a new topic on reception games.
Planning a wedding is fun, but now I'm starting to think I may need a wedding planner only for the reception!!
I have no idea what might work for an interactive reception.
Even if it is different types of games or just one big ice breaker.
