How much to tip Maitre D at Engagement Party

Ok it is a Saturday Night, about 89 adults, 17 kids...at Roma View in Howard Beach...

What do you think is appropriate? Not sure if the 'wedding' suggestions apply here...in my opinion, an engagement party definitely has less details to worry about than a wedding...BY FAR!

I'm surprised it isn't included... I would probably give him $100. That is plenty if gratuity for the other staff is included.

well gratuity and tax is added in our price per plate, but I always thought you were supposed to tip the Maitre D a little something extra...

Hey - I know this is an old post - but on tipping the maiter'd - if it's not included - would you still tip 18-20 of the bill??? just as if you were tipping on a dinner bill?? or what were the rules if it was a wedding party???

for a wedding, i think it's usually $2-$5 a person.
