Ladies with stomach problems, how did you deal on your wedding day?

A spinoff of Even Edans post...

For those with stomach problems, what did you do to remain calm and not get sick and (this might sound silly) what did you eat in the morning???? I have such severe stomach problems (which is why I am home sick today ) that I am actually stressing over what I am going to eat so that I wont get sick on my day!!

Please share your experiences! Thanks!

Re: Ladies with stomach problems, how did you deal on your wedding day?

I have a terrible stomach so the day of the wedding I'm probably going to have toast or a bagel and my specialty Pepto Bismol to coat my stomach. That alwasy works for me when I want a 'calm' stomach.

Re: Ladies with stomach problems, how did you deal on your wedding day?

I have a TERRIBLE stomach. Have tried the meds, have been through all kinds of tests, and it's horrible.

As for my wedding day (the 1st one!) I was stessing myself out sooo much before the big day about how my stomach 'might' be, and actually when the day came, I was so excited and wrapped up in the excitement that it was FINE! I ate a bagel with a slice of turkey on it and was good to go!

to you with stomach problems. I KNOW how much it stinks

Re: Ladies with stomach problems, how did you deal on your wedding day?

I too have really bad stomach problems. My father has colitis so I have been through all the tests. I don't have colitis but I have IBS and am lactose intolerant. My doctor recently gave me new medication but it does not work that well. I am very very nervous about the wedding.

Re: Ladies with stomach problems, how did you deal on your wedding day?

The main thing that is important is to try not to get yourself nervous.

If you have a nervous stomach, or a bad stomach...then you should avoid certain foods.

I had Acid Reflux for a while, but not that bad. My doctor put me on Nexium and also monoclopramide for about 6 months and I am no longer on medication. I still have to watch what I eat, and I have cut out alot of foods from my diet.

I no longer eat Spicey Foods, Fast Foods, Saucy Italian food, Mexican food, and I have cut down my intake of Caffiene. I totally stopped drinking coffee, which I found was a big problem for me. The coffee was making my stomach feel worse then it would if I didnt drink it. So now if I want Caffiene I drink Hot Tea.

As far as Soda goes I no longer drink Caffinated Beverages. I dirkn Diet Sierra Mist most of the time, Giner Ale or Diet Sprite.

If you need any advice, I have tons of it. I have always had stomach issues.

Re: Ladies with stomach problems, how did you deal on your wedding day?

I am so nervous I too have IBS and Lactose Intolerant, I get sick over everything, or running to the bathroom before I go somewhere that I’m nervous for… my HF has the same problem, we’re always complaining about our stomachs, our family makes jokes that we’re both gonna run back down the aisle to bathroom… and see who makes it there first…. We are sooo nervous, But I’m hoping I will be sooo excited that my stomach will be fine, My problem now is that ever since the wedding planning I have been having panic attacks, and honestly I’d much rather have the stomach problems, panic attacks are not fun at all…. I don’t know what to do if I have a panic attack that day…

Re: Ladies with stomach problems, how did you deal on your wedding day?

I was diagnosed with IBS about a year ago. I have recently been doing the South Beach diet and gave up drinking soda. It has helped my stomach tremendously.

But also, will pop a few Imodium pills the day before and the day of my wedding. Just for the extra security.

I have a spasmatic balwool. I know that I am not going to be eating anything that will aggravate it.

Re: Ladies with stomach problems, how did you deal on your wedding day?

Yes I agree with the Immodium. If you are nervous about your stomach the day before and the day of your wedding I would pop two immodiums when you get up or after you eat breakfast. I would have dry toast for breakfast and some chamomile tea.

It would be beneficial to do this. I have done this, before going on long trips and even before going to restaurants that I know will affect my stomach.

Re: Ladies with stomach problems, how did you deal on your wedding day?

Maybe I'm totally off base here - but if your stomach problems seem completely related to stress and nerves - maybe it would be beneficial to speak to a counselor or psychologist about it. This way, you can learn techniques to deal with your nerves and calm yourself down - basically how to take charge of your mind and body - before the stomach problems surface.

Re: Ladies with stomach problems, how did you deal on your wedding day?

i do think that stress aggravates the situation but i do not think it is the cause. there is alot of evidence that there is an organic cause to IBD, crohns and colitis. my episodes happen regardless if i am stressed or not. but it sure would be helpful regardless to learn some relaxtion techniques!!

Re: Ladies with stomach problems, how did you deal on your wedding day?

My IBS works up 'more' with stress, but it also works up when im totally relax and having what was otherwise a very nice day relaxing at home.

I dread the idea of my wedding day. I mean I can't ask my MOH or anyone I know to go to the bathroom with me for THAT episode. Those episodes are never fun and sometime severe. I come back pale and weak beside thirsty.

Can you imagine the embarassment???

I have a morning wedding. 11:30. I'll probably have a slice of dry toast and a fruit smoothie. Fatting things set me off fastest.

No Milk, No Butter, No Cheese, no White bread. Acids also aggitate me if Im nervous so no Cirtrus, no heavy sugars. Then there's the thing that if I over eat or eat on a completely empty stomach I get 'sick'. Sooo Bland, small and simple. Heck I may just chew on crackers with water.

Oh and yes I have my drugs to help, but as girls here know there's no 'solution' to IBS.

I figure if I remember to only eat the fruits during the cocktail hour and we are selecting salad for starters and fish for my entree.

Nibble only, drink water and basically understand I will need to starve that day.

But it's better than having an episode.

Wow... I am glad to see that I am not the only person with a bad stomach!! I don't know what I will eat that morning, but I do know that I will definitely be taking my immodiums!! That always helps me...

I get sick from nerves too. But usually in a stressful situation, right then and there, I get my period, whether it is due or not.
