mini review - Douglaston Manor
So....i just got back from Douglaston Manor with my FH. It is actaully only about 15 minutes away from where we live so that was nice. When we pulled up, we immediately liked what we saw. it is on the property of a golf course so there is a huge course behind the place and the RH is actually in an old Mansion. It is sort of an italian villa style looking place. The outisde has a gazebo out front, the lawn was not manicured much but it is winter so i am sure they do lots to fix it up in the spring/summer ( i find this with a lot of places). The inside was also beautiful! FH and i loved it. The CH would be outdoors weather permitting on their patio, or in a room with greenhouse type looking windows looking out onto the massive green of the golfcourse. Also, with a view of Manhattan in the distance (can't see the entire skyline, but a little bit). The Reception room was also beautiful. But was very small, so for our party of 250 they would have to open the connecting room. (this was the main problem we had with the place....we felt like the extra room was somewhat disconnected from everything else. not completely, but if u were sitting back there i might not see everything that is going on. I would definately reccomend u check this place out if u have a smaller party though. Another problem we had with t he place is that they are undergoing construction so we would be worried it might not be finished. The bridal suites were beautifull. All brand new hardwood floors with couches and mirrors. The bathrooms in the bridal suites had marble floors and were brand new. They were upstairs, and there is also a small lounge upstairs with a balcony that looks out onto the dance floor in the ballroom. Gorgeous! The lady there told us that it is a balcony where the dj for studio 54 used to use...they used to own this place as well, according to her. All in all we really like the place. It is under new ownership, so they still seem to be straightening some things there out (a bit of a concern as well). I think the final product there will end up real nice. The price was amazing for a Sat. evening in May it would only be 85pp plus tax, grat. It wasn't much cheaper for an afternoon. (80pp). But if you are looking for an evening wedding at a less expensive price, or just a place with a mansion type feel....definatately check this place out. We are not going to go for it, but are glad we looked. As of now....CLM is still our number one choice.

Re: mini review - Douglaston Manor
i want to correct myself....the RH room was not 'small' per say, it was actually pretty decent sized with very high cieliengs.....but only seats about 100 or a little more. That's why we would have had to open up the connecting room. The rooms sort of form into a T.....once they are opened up. So the people in the back section would not be able to see everyone in the front.Welcome New Vendors
