Need FATHER/DAUGHTER DANCE SONGS!!! (I know its been done, but I can't do a search from work)

My dad had originally picked Daddy's Little Girl, but told me the other day he doesn't want that and we need to pick a new song. I think its because he will get emotional and he's such a macho man he can't show his emotions. So any suggestions would be much appreciated!!! Thanks!!

OMG- my dad's the same way!! He wants a 'non-emotional song'. We listened to butterfly kisses a few months ago when just he and I were in the car and he started crying. I've very rarely seen my dad cry in my entire life- only at funerals or really bad news!! It made me so sad to see him cry!
I'm thinking about Joe Cocker's 'You are so beautiful' or Rod Stewart's 'Have I told you lately' b/c those aren't as sad as Butterfly kisses. I want something that you don't hear at every wedding though either!!!

Unemotional songs or not, I KNOW me and Dad are BOTH gonna cry either way -- so there is no hope! (I am such a Daddy's girl!)



That said, 'You'll Be In My Heart' is very pretty ... I actually watched Tarzan last night with FH (it was featured in that movie) and its truly a song between parent to child (in the movie the mom sings it to Tarzan, but that shouldn't make any difference!!)

I am a daddy's girl too; either way it is going to be way emotional!!! Have you thought about songs from 'his era'? I know my dad would really appreciate a Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin song!!!! My favorite so far is 'The Way You Look Tonight' by Sinatra. It is a really mellow song that is good to dance to!!!

Thank you all!! Ok I have a stupid question!! Is the father/daughter dance song supposed to be a song dedicated from father to daughter or daughter to father?? Do you know what I mean?? Is it supposed to be a song my father is playing to me or I am playing to him??

I just posted how I think I found mine. My dad and I do nothave anything close to a mushy relationship, so the song I picked is to me. ther are not many songs to a dad that are not mushy. 'she's a butterfly'

If we were havign a dj, I'd pick Montengo Bay , b/c me & my dad used to dance to it at Girl Scout dances!

If you're Dad is a fan of 50's Doo Wop like my Dad...I would suggest You are My Special Angel. By Bobby Helms I think? I told my Dad I chose it and he flipped...it's so him...much more so than any of the 'typical' father daughter songs. I don't think he's ever even heard of 'I loved her first'
