OMG- my hotel block is more expensive than online prices!!!!

My sister just emailed me to tell me that my hotel block which is $129 a night is more expensive than booking online. Online its $122.

Has this happened to anyone?

This didn't happen to me but I would defnitely call the hotel about this maybe they will lower the block price for you.

YUP!!! Our hotel is $143/night and my uncle got a quote for $116 a night!!!!!! HUGE DIFFERENCE!!!!!

I called and they moved my sister room into our block so we get credit for it.

Yes it happened to us as well. We were blocked at the Holiday Inn in riverhead for 139.00 a night the week before my wedding it was 122.00. I called them up and they honored it giving all my guests the 122.00 a night charge.

Thats because of the economy. They block you at a competitive rate, but hotels everywhere have lowered their rates because no one is traveling.

Many hotels do this which I think is so dumb. Basically it's cheaper if you book everything yourself than if you call them and have them do their job!!

My friend booked our hotel for a discount by using a marriott rewards only discount that was $10 less than our block rate. I called the hotel to ask if I could get the $20 back for each person (2 nights) who had already booked, including us (we booked a bridal suite AND 3 rooms for FH's family). They could do that, but they comped us the second night in the bridal suite AND gave us the first night in the suite at the regular room rate. That saved me (personally) about $300. So I was happy about what they did to make up for it. The $10 to each guest is ok... it's still less than the non-marriott rewards rate.

That happened to us too but luckily when we calaled them they honored the lower price for our guests.

This happened when we went to NH for a wedding last year. My AAA rate was cheaper then the girls hotel block rate. They just moved our room onto the floor with the room block.
